New energy projects are being developed across the United States faster than ever before. Unfortunately, the country doesn’t have enough electric transmission lines to connect those projects to the grid. A recent rule from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) could change that by requiring regional grids to forecast and plan for transmission needs 20 years into the future. The rule also encourages the upgrade of existing infrastructure to increase capacity without needing to build new lines from scratch. Policy like this is important to help meet the nation’s growing energy needs, and the new rule had broad bipartisan support, according to RMI’s Chaz Teplin. 📰 via Grist: https://bit.ly/3K2DWkT #energy #decarbonization #electricity #transmission

Empowering women in renewable energy isn't just about equality—it's about harnessing untapped potential for a more sustainable future. RMI is proud to support initiatives like the Women in Renewable Energy Mentorship Program, a professional development group for women working in energy in island nations. Let's keep building our own tables and creating space for all voices in the energy transition.
Energized after #CREF2024 last week! Super inspired from the discussions around gender equity in the energy transition, especially those held at our Women in Renewable Energy Luncheon.
