As my neighbors and I prepare for peak electricity rates to quadruple in Missouri in the next few weeks, this article reminds us of who is approving these rate structures, energy efficiency programs, and (lack of) renewable energy standards across the country. A study by The Chisholm Legacy Project: A Resource Hub for Black Frontline Climate Justice Leadership found that "public utility commissions are still largely lacking in a diversity of life experiences and in an understanding of how their decisions can differently affect low-income and environmental justice communities." #environmentaljustice #energyburden #healthequity #righttozero
