Nest Doorbell Does Not Chime on my iPhone.

I have a Nest Wired Doorbell, and it does not chime on my iPhone when the button is pressed. All I get is a standard notification, which is barely noticeable, and I always miss. What's the point of a doorbell that does not chime?

@higrafx

Maybe it is different for 2nd gen doorbells.  I just checked on our doorbells.  We get a "ding-dong chime" doorbell sound on our iPhones when the doorbell button is pressed on our 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells, controlled by whether we have "Push notifications" enabled. For all other notifications we get a standard notification sound.

However, if I'm wearing my Apple Watch, then I get a standard notification on my watch only when the doorbell button is pressed.

For all other notifications:

On an Android phone, customers can apparently change the notification sound by going to Settings | Notifications | App Settings, finding the "Google Home" app entry, and scrolling down to "Doorbell press notifications".

On iPhones, all we can do is to change the "Default Alerts" sound by going into Settings | Sounds & Haptics | Default Alerts.

I'm so frustrated with Goggle doorbell I could scream. There doesn't appear to be a way to play the "Ding Dong" sound on my iPhone when someone presses my doorbell button. Doorbell button notifications trigger appear to trigger the Default Alert on my iPhone, which means that someone ringing my doorbell sounds exactly like a thousand other notifications I receive. I'm using the Google Home app. What kind of stupid design is this?

Hi there!

Thanks for posting here in the community. I understand how frustrating it can be while your Nest doorbell can't chime directly on your phone. Help's here!

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to get a ring sound directly on your phone. However, I truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue improving our products to meet your needs.

Keep me posted.

Hi Melany,

Thanks for replying to my post. For clarification, are you saying the capability to play "Ding Dong" on my iPhone when someone rings my doorbell, has not been developed? To say "there isn't a way" seems to exclude any possibility of developing a way, as in none of Google Nest's competitors have this capability either because a solution is simply impossible. Please clarify.  Thanks again.

Hi @Guitartrooper

Thanks for the follow-up information.

While there currently isn't a built-in feature within the Google Home app to play a specific ring sound on your iPhone when someone rings the doorbell, it doesn't necessarily mean it's impossible entirely.

Our team is constantly working on improvements and new features for the Google Nest doorbell. Your feedback about a custom doorbell notification sound is valuable. We encourage you to share your suggestions through the feedback form I provided previously.

In the meantime, you can still receive doorbell notifications on your iPhone and even view a live video feed of who's at your door.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
Melany
