Google Nest Mini firmware 384934 NOT listed!

marcolopes

Hi!

- When was firmware 384934 released?

What does it FIX / CHANGE??

Why are the devices configured in a STEREO PAIR NOT UPDATED at the same time and WHAT are the implications??

NOTE: I have a stereo PAIR, and the main LEFT CHANNEL is still on the previous firmware!!! - removing the STEREO link and RESETTING the device did NOTHING! Still on the previous firmware! Shouldn't the device be updated to the latest firmware after a reset and configuration???

Another fact is that this latest firmware is NOT LISTED officially either as PREVIEW PROGRAM and PRODUCTION firmware!!! https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257

Data from my stereo pair, with different firmware!!

Altifalante esquerdo:
Versão firmware do sistema: 375114

BTW, this was copy paste from the Google home app, that's in Portuguese, BECAUSE IT ALWAYS USES THE SYTEM LANGUAGE AND IT CANNOT BE CONFIGURED TO USE ANY OTHER LANGUAGE!!! BECAUSE OF THIS I CANNOT USE AUTOMATION!!

To find out when devices firmware was released see this page: Google speaker and display firmware versions and release notes - Google Nest Help

Devices should be automatically updated and if one is available, please do update the firmware for the other device for the stereo sound and make sure automatic updates are enabled!

I hope this helps!

I'll dig in to see if I can find any fixes to why this is the case.

NO!!! This DOES NOT help!

I have 2 devices with an UNKNOWN firmware, NOT listed on the OFFICIAL PAGE: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccurrent-preview-program-firmware...

That's firmware 384934

Then, i have 1 DEVICE, that is part of a STEREO pair, that was not updated automatically to the "unknown" firmware, and has the LATEST firmware LISTED!

That's firmware 375114

- I cannot FORCE the update (i tried many approaches)

- The device has AUTOMATIC UPDATES on!

- I removed it from the stereo pair and did a reset, nothing changed!

So, my questions remain!

Why is this a RECOMMENDED ANSWER???

ALL DEVICES HAVE BEEN CONFIGURED to UPDATE THE FIRMWARE AUTOMATICALLY!!!!

ALL DEVICES were PAIRED AFTER they HAVE BEEN CONFIGURED to UPDATE THE FIRMWARE AUTOMATICALLY!!!!

The firmware IS NOT updated on BOTH STEREO PAIRS!!!

I'm asking for months now HOW DOES THIS affect the STEREO PAIR! NO answer!

I'm asking for months now HOW CAN ONE FORCE an UPDATE! It's NOT possible!

So... are the STEREO PAIR DEVICES doomed not to be up to date because ONE of the devices is never updated?

When Google Nest marks a reply as a "Recommended Answer", they do NOT identify who marked it as such.

In contrast, when a reply is marked as a "Best Answer", they identify who marked it as such.

@marcolopes you and I should talk I think. My email is my username at gmail dot com.

Anyone knows who to "force" the device firmware update?

Hello GOOGLE!

Any way that we can FORCE a firmware update?

@marcolopes

We've been a Google Nest customer for 5 years.  Google Nest PUSHES out firmware updates on its own schedule, and there is no way to FORCE or INITIATE a firmware update, even though numerous customers in this forum have asked for years.

Well... i have a STEREO PAIR with different firmware... that's not good!

I believe there is a BUG (that only updates ONE of the devices on the STEREO PAIR) and I'm not alone in this one...

I've just realised I have exactly the same problem, with exactly the same firmware codes.

Hi Folks,

Thank you for posting and giving the details. I'm sorry that you received the update only on one device; this could be annoying to not have the exact same update for all devices.

Unfortunately, we don't have an option to force the updates since we need the software on the device up to date, which constantly needs improvements for a better experience.

For your concern, please fill out this form. Our specialist team will reach out to you for better assistance on this issue. In the mean time please follow the below instructions:

  1. Make sure their Google Home is powered via the provided power cable via a wall outlet (Not via power strip).
  2. Make sure their Google Home is connected to the internet for at least 24 hours.
  3. Reboot their Google Home device (If applicable).

Let me know once you're done with the form.

Regards,

Byron

Hi,

I have filled out the form. My speakers are always connected to the internet, we almost never experience drops and they're well placed for wifi connection, and I only use the original adaptors but plugging them directly into wall sockets isn't a viable option. In my observation, the 'lead' speaker of the pair is the one that has received the update, so I suspect it is in the way they are paired that the issue with these updates lies.

Exactly!!!

On the STEREO PAIRS, ONLY the "main" device got the firmware UPDATE!

This is an UPDATE BUG...

Just like it's NAMING the STEREO PAIR!!! (2 devices... named LEFT and RIGHT, PAIRED with name STEREO... are seen on the network as LEFT!!! one must RENAME the STEREO PAIR once it's configured... and guess what?? AFTER UNPARING... the LEFT device is named... STEREO!! - THIS is a BUG)

I also tried to use the devices UNPAIRED for a few days, but the device stuck on the previous firmware was NOT updated automatically (YES, the option to receive automatic updates is ON)

Also... WHY is the "latest" firmware still NOT listed on the firmware page??? Is the Google Nest ecosystem "dead"? https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257

Hi Folks,

Thank you for posting and for the feedback about the issue with the updates. I got your form, @NaomiT. Our specialty team will reach out to you soon for further assistance with your concern.

I also have the naming bug for the stereo speakers, the device list names them by one speaker (in my case the left speaker) and yet clicking nonb this opens the stereo pair

rickjforbes_2-1717096425578.pngrickjforbes_3-1717096442429.png

This is what i do:

- Configure LEFT device name (Google Speaker L)

- Configure RIGHT device name (Google Speaker R)

- Configure every aspect of BOTH speakers to be the same (even automatic updates), because the configuration of the STERO PAIR is NOT HONORING each device configuration (ex: if you forget to configure the ULTRASOUND SENSING on BOTH speakers - ON or OFF - configuring it after the PAIR as been created DOES NOT WORK! The device will honor it's individual configurations, NOT the STEREO SPEAKER CONFIGURATION!!!)

- Create the STEREO PAIR (that is seen on the network, and even in the Google Home App CONFIG option as the LEFT SPEAKER NAME)

- EDIT the name of the STEREO SPEAKER PAIR (that, internally, reconfigures the LEFT DEVICE NAME!!!)

STERO PAIRING has many problems...

So... my STEREO PAIR devices still have different firmware!

No one explains if there is a BUG that prevents BOTH devices of a STEREO PAIR to UPDATE to the most recent firmware!

Also, NO ONE explains what are de consequences of this!

- Let's imagine the most recent firmware introduces FIXES and/or NEW BUGS... are those present on BOTH devices if the MAIN DEVICE has the NEW firmware???

- If i SWAP the devices (configure the device that was NOT updated as the "main" device) WILL that allow it to UPDATE in the near future?

There is no information whatsoever about this!

Must i UNLINK and NOT USE a stereo pair until the device stuck on the old firmware updates??

:\\\\\

A detailed info about this would help!

This issue still puzzles me...

WHY doesn't Google UPDATE the FIRMWARE page?? https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccurrent-preview-program-firmware...

BTW, my STEREO PAIR still has different firmware! (tried to unpair for a few days to see if the device with the old firmware would update, but no success... it remains with the 375114 firmware)

@ByronP

For over two months now, customer @marcolopes  has been reporting that one of their Nest Minis is on firmware version 384934, but that version is NOT listed on Google Nest's firmware page. Why not?

Hi Folks,

Thank you for posting. I'm really sorry that it is still not showing the latest update for the firmware version, @marcolopes. This could be frustrating since it passed 2 months ago and there are no updates about it. I really appreciate you chiming in. @MplsCustomer.

@code_  and @marcolopes

I am also having this issue. I did a recent home rebuild at the behest of your colleagues and spent much time checking the software was correct for each device, so it has come out of sync since then, OR this is a display error in the app

I note you suggest in reply to @marcolopes that updates should be enabled, of course this is *always* true, the only user choice is preview programme or not. Automatic updates that the user can configure only apply to the Home App/Nest App via Google Play. Unless I am missing something I thing it is incorrect to suggest otherwise
