Nest Wifi router cannot connect to internet

My Nest Wifi router has been working great until 2 days ago. I have Xfinity for internet service and a Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 cable modem. I was able to connect the ethernet cable from the cable modem to my laptop and get access to the internet. When I connect it to the Nest router for wifi, it can't find the internet.

I bought a new Nest Wifi router assuming it was the issue. I have the same problem when I set up the new router. The Google Home app find the new router but when it tries to connect to the internet, it fails.

Any suggestions?

Let me describe my issue and see if it's the same: I have an ATT modem and router for my fiber connection. I have this connected to my Google Nest WiFi Router. I also have three Nest WiFi Points in a mesh network. I can open the Google home app and it will tell me everything is working just fine!

However, when I try to connect literally any device to the network, it fails. Pixel, laptops, other Google devices, etc.

Is that similar to what you're experiencing?

My problem was different. The wifi router couldn't connect to the internet so I didn't have any wifi anywhere. I changed the DNS primary to 8.8.8.8 and turned off IPv6, restarted everything and it worked. I did a lot of searching through the forums to find this solution.

Hello folks!

Thanks for posting in the community!

It sounds so frustrating that your Nest WiFi router isn't connecting to the internet even after changing the router, also I see you've already tried some troubleshooting steps.

It's possible that the current modem might be related to this situation. There's a chance a firewall or restrictions settings might be blocking the connection. My suggestion is to call your Internet provider and have them check the modem's configuration and ensure no settings are preventing the connection.

Please let me know what your internet provider support team finds. This information might help us troubleshoot further if needed.

Best regards,

Nery.
