Nest Cam no longer links to Nest app

I didn’t realize that the Nest Cam won’t actually link to my Nest app, so I need two separate apps for the camera and thermostats now. Will this be fixed or will I always need two apps? I was really hoping to purchase one camera and be done… but now do I need to purchase 4 new thermostats and 10 new protects to have them all link to the Google app now? This escalated quickly… I’m thinking I should return the camera and save myself some money until the thermostats and protects crap out.

We discovered the same thing when we bought a Google Nest Battery Camera in Sept. 2021, and have been using 2 apps to manage our Google Nest cameras and doorbells ever since.

Google Nest is gradually allowing customers to "transfer" 1st gen cameras to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Nest-Cam-Outdoor-1st-gen-expanded-support-rolling-out-in...), but 1st gen doorbells cannot (yet?) be transferred, and the Google Home app still lacks may Nest app functions (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features).  So we're still using the Google Nest app for our 1st gen cameras and doorbells.

We don't have any Nest Protects, but there are numerous posts in this forum indicating they don't yet work in the Google Home app.  And it seems that thermostats installed in the Google Nest app do NOT have all the same functions when viewed in the Google Home app.
