Hi

I’M a quadriplegic with little arm or hand movement, I have a chromecast ultra & google mini, when I ask it to play a Netflix show it works fine. I’ve added Foxtel go app to my video & when I ask it to play a show from Foxtel go, google says I need a premium subscription & the Foxtel go doesn’t have a premium subscription, they have a platinum subscription, which I am! Does google have a premium subscription or has anyone got any suggestions

thanks

Hi there Fillabong,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand it can be frustrating to not be able to get the most out of your paid subscription due to Google Assistant. Don't worry help's here.

Currently, Chromecast doesn't require a premium subscription to cast content from any app. Only the subscription within the app itself matters.

  • Try checking if both devices you're using for casting are on the same account you have Foxtel Go Platinum with.
  • You can also try a different phrase for Google Assistant, such as "Play [Show name] on Foxtel Go." Being more specific might help avoid false triggers.

While I can't provide specific Foxtel Go troubleshooting steps, I recommend verifying your current subscription plan and contacting Foxtel Go support to clarify any casting requirements from your app to your TV. They might offer further troubleshooting steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Angel.

I have reached out to Foxtel & I do have the platinum subscription & I did the specific voice commands before reaching out to this community board, when I ask the nest to play game of thrones on Foxtel it takes to google tv & wants me to pay for it, I can’t remember what subscription service the game of thrones paid service was though

Hiya Fillabong,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I see you were able to verify your Foxtel Platinum subscription. Since Assistant is still asking for a premium subscription, here are a few suggestions:

  • Ask Google Assistant to cast the show you want after opening the Foxtel app. Having the app up front will help avoid opening different apps.
  • Make sure all of your devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Ensure your Google Home app and phone are up to date by checking the App Store or Play Store accordingly.

Reboot your devices, both Chromecast and the speaker you're using to cast the show. A simple restart can give you a fresh start.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Angel.
