Great to see some positive feedback from yesterday's webinar on movement for your mental wellbeing, with Richard Turner and Joel Gujral. ICYMI, here are our 3 key takeaways 🔑 1. Movement can be broken down into general movement, cardio and resistance training. But it's not always possible to do all 3. Finding something you enjoy is key 🥳 2. Visualisation techniques and music therapy can help us to get moving. Music with a certain beat per minute can actually help you when you're exercising! 🎶 3. Life's busy. It can be challenging to fit movement in when there's a lot going on. Things that can help are finding your optimum time for fitting movement in and creating a routine. Habit building techniques are something to try here 🔂 #mentalhealthawarenessweek #movementformentalhealth

Dear HR, Remember to put on your oxygen masks first. Our global resilience coach, Angelique, has worked with lots of people in HR over the years, both as a coach and trainer. She's put 5 reminders together that might help you carve a bit of space for your own mental health, this week and beyond. Remember to put your oxygen masks on first, and thank you for doing all you do. 💛 *** ✅ Set clear boundaries. Let people know your working hours, e.g. in your email signature. Say no to work emails/calls outside of work hours. Your personal time is for your personal wellbeing. ✅ Self-care starts small and breaks are essential. Treat them like mini-appointments - schedule them in your calendar, step away from your desk and do something non-screen based for 10 minutes. Small steps to self-care are better than nothing. ✅ Feeling overloaded and overwhelmed? Empower people, delegate, prioritise, and lighten the load. Share and allocate your tasks. A lighter workload leads to a lighter mind. ✅ The power of HR communities. Mix with your fellow people people by joining a community. Knowing that others face similar challenges can be reassuring. It might just help recharge your motivation and emotional energy. ✅ If it smells burnt, call the fire brigade. Make sure you know the signs of burnout. Just as your staff need to seek mental health support sometimes, we encourage you to seek support too.  #mentalhealthawarenessweek

A few Monday morning thoughts... 💭 It’s ok if running on a treadmill isn’t for you, and you prefer to go for a walk🚶♀️ It’s ok if you can’t hold tree pose for more than a minute without wobbling 🌳 It's ok if you find more joy in exercising alone than in group classes 🏋️♂️ It's ok if your mind wanders during a meditation exercise, or if journalling clears your head more than mindfulness sessions do 📝 Whatever movement works for you, whatever it looks like, it all counts. Given it's Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme is moving for your mental health, here's a little reminder that getting moving matters more than what it actually looks like 😌 It all comes together to have a positive impact on your mind and wellbeing, and that’s all that matters. Have a great week 💛 #mentalhealthawarenessweek

Keeping your best and brightest happy means being able to spot when they’ve tuned out. 📢 Some signs of disengaged team members are more obvious than others - but what about the less obvious signs? Because the signs can be so subtle, we like to think that's where open cultures of communication come in handy. When healthy, meaningful conversation is part and parcel of workplace culture, people can speak up when they need to, and any challenges can be nipped in the bud :) #futureofwork #employeeexperience #hrcommunity

It’s Maternal Mental Health Week and we’ve been pondering what it means to support working parents. So we've handed over the LinkedIn keys to our very own MYNDUP mum Kathryn Cettina 👑 (also our much-loved head of enterprise & accounts). Kathryn's returned to work 3 times after maternity. She's seen the good, bad and the downright ugly. Here's her hot take on how to let your parental returners know they matter 💛 ✅ Be proactive in creating space Create regular spaces throughout the transitional period and invite their thoughts and feelings on what they need to do their jobs brilliantly. Be proactive. Be permission giving. Be human. Show your commitment to making it work for them, however that looks. ✅ Don’t fall into ‘faux flexibility’ Flexibility will look different to everyone. It’s not enough to allow them an hour off for a doctor’s appointment if they make it up at the end of the day. The way they get things done might look different to their coworkers or even other parents. There are no rules on this. The goal is to create an environment where this is okay and trust that it measures up in the end. ✅ Mind your mouth Don't underestimate the power of your words. The twist of our tummies as we hear the whispers of ‘she probably isn’t coming back’ is not lost on us. These seemingly innocent comments are what cultivate culture and parental perception. Try these alternatives: “How was your holiday? Nice break?” → “We're so glad you’re back. God we've missed your input.” “So much has changed since you were last here” → “Let’s get you up to speed!” “Who's looking after the baby?” → “How's the baby? Any pics?” (for ten points, remember the right name) Mind your mouths. Use your words for good 💛 #hrcommunity #parentalleave #inclusiveworkplace

Psychological safety has gained a lot more attention recently, despite the concept dating back to the 60s and further popularised in the 90s  📈 Research always shows how influential psychological safety is in the workplace. Makes sense, given feeling safe is a basic human requirement and essential for wellbeing 😌 When people feel safe at work, they’re better able to learn, grow and thrive. The result? Happier staff, a shared sense of motivation and greater commitment to your mission.
