🥬 🏥 We’re proud to welcome a new partner into our comprehensive digital health ecosystem and enlist in bitewell’s mission to improve the world’s health through food! 🥗🍴 United by our shared commitment to meet individuals wherever they are in their personal health journey, Sharecare’s partnership with bitewell gives people the tools and education they need to harness the power of food-as-medicine. Through the partnership, Sharecare’s existing nutrition solutions will be complemented by access to the world’s first digital food farmacy, which makes healthy food accessible, affordable, and actionable for every American. bitewell’s revolutionary model turns nutrition insights into easy actions tailored to an individual’s specific needs and goals. Along the way, people are educated on the use of food-as-medicine through the company’s proprietary food navigation tool, the FoodHealth Score. In addition to supporting 30 different health conditions and a vast array of dietary needs, preferences, and lifestyles, bitewell’s food supplier network can deliver healthy food to every zip code in the United States. By pairing nutritional guidance with expanded access for individuals to shop for foods to prevent or treat disease – that fit their needs, preferences, and budget – bitewell takes a major step forward in making food-as-medicine accessible for all.   To learn how our partnership with bitewell can support your workforce or member population with the tools they need to understand their nutrition and take action, reach out to your Sharecare contact or email [email protected].   #FoodAsMedicine #WellBeing #DigitalHealth #Innovation #StrategicPartnership #HealthTech #FoodHealth

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and, this year, Georgia's State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) hosted its 2024 Mental Health Awareness Month Summit, bringing together over 350 leaders across the Peach State's public school system, including school counselors, benefit/payroll managers, HR directors, nurses, superintendents, and wellness ambassadors.   Themed "A Path to a Resilient State of Mind," the summit showcased SHBP’s commitment to raising awareness, providing resources, and promoting open dialogue around mental health issues for their members through the Georgia Department of Community Health BeWell SHBP® Well-being Program. Hosted in collaboration with several of SHBP’s well-being partners, the summit featured two days of engaging programming, including sessions led by Team Sharecare such as the “Mind, Body, and Movement” stretch series, morning yoga, and activities like raffles and healthy smoothie demos.   Additionally, on the first day of the summit, Sharecare’s Dr. Beth LaGrange took the stage to share her previous experiences from working in high-stress institutions including the New York State Master Teacher Program and Rikers Island Correctional Facility. She emphasized the benefits of positive psychology practices and mindfulness, including cultivating traits such as gratitude, kindness, and self-compassion, and provided attendees with actionable strategies to enhance their well-being and that of their students.   To dive deeper into Dr. LaGrange’s insights and strategies, follow the link to read her post-summit blog post. We're inspired by the commitment shown by SHBP and all participants at the summit and are excited to continue this conversation.

Working with our professional non-medical caregivers, Sharecare's vice president of clinical home care programs, Matt Shapiro, MD, MS, has witnessed how our home care platform, CareLinx, can help improve health outcomes and increase cost savings by deploying tech-enabled caregivers into the home to support patients after their discharge from the hospital.     Highlighting a recent case at one of the largest non-profit health systems in the Northwest, Dr. Shapiro writes on the Sharecare blog about how home care can play a critical role in reducing hospital admissions and patients’ total length of stay. This has not only translated into meaningful reductions in total cost of care, but also – and perhaps most importantly – demonstrated how in-home care can provide individuals the immeasurable gift of being able to age in place with dignity and to live happier, healthier lives, for longer.     Learn more about the life-changing impact of our highly-vetted and qualified caregivers: https://lnkd.in/gRenbxhy

According to research published in STAT recently, the healthcare ecosystem in the United States is often well-equipped to manage acute and chronic conditions, but falls far short in addressing the social factors that can contribute to health challenges in the first place. In a joint survey with UnitedHealthcare, adults 65+ shared how they receive insurance, how they perceive their own health, how easily they’re able to navigate community resources and the U.S. health care system, social challenges that they’ve faced, and the repercussions on their own health: https://lnkd.in/ghMiWmik 📊42% of respondents acknowledged challenges in navigating resources available to them, and the survey identified a direct correlation between lower income levels and greater difficulty navigating community resources.  💰Many acknowledged financial challenges, particularly those earning less than $25,000 a year.  🗓️Feeling lonely was a concern over the past five years, particularly for those in urban environments, those who were divorced/separated/widowed, and retirees.  🔎Although resources exist, those who need help are often the most challenged to find and take advantage of available support. Our home care solution, CareLinx, is tailored to meet members’ specific functional needs and chronic conditions, in addition to helping families and aging individuals connect with quality care professionals for both their non-medical, social, and clinical support needs. CareLinx also works with health plans, employers, and government programs.  Learn more at https://www.carelinx.com/
