Nest Mini Popping noise feature volume!

Given this seems to be a FEATURE rather than a BUGhttps://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Strange-popping-sound-in-my-nest-mini/m...

i wonder why the popping noise volume is not correlated with the device volume...

Ex: Yesterday inadvertently i decreased the volume of my bedroom Stereo pair to ZERO, and i forgot about it! Latter, when in bed, i started to listen the POPS... first on the left speaker, later on on the right one, and i said to myself "well, this is new! now it pops when not streaming?" (i checked the device and it was STREAMING Spotify with no volume).

So, it's nothing new here, but why does it pop "loud" when the volume is LOW or there is no volume at all??

My Nest Mini also pops loudly when the volume is set to low.

Well, if the Popping noise is programmed into the firmware, shouldn't the volume be in par with the DEVICE volume?

Could there be a bug with this feature?

I was wondering the same thing!

Is there a way to reach the Google Nest Mini CORE TEAM about this?

This is similar to the behaviour that I see when the Nest Mini is paired with an external third party bluetooth speaker:

- > the popping is still present on the otherwise silent Mini speaker but is not present on the third party bluetooth speaker that is actually reproducing the music.

It seems a confirmation that the popping noise is generated by an issue in the fw. of the Mini that is managing the audio amplifier or some other part of the device. The problem has nothing to do with the streaming service or the Internet and WiFi network. If this was the case, lowering the volume to zero shall have muted the popping too.

I'm in the bathroom right now listening to my new nest mini and it's happening every 1-2 minutes, the volume is low, the pop is loud.

I've noticed this on my other nest mini speakers too it seems.

Some of the first Google results are saying this is related to the ultrasonic feature that was introduced (the feature that lights up the controls when your hand gets near it).

If that feature is the cause of the issue. As much as I like that feature, the outcome of the random consistent pops are not worth it in my opinion. I really hope they fix this, it's already been 4-5 months according to the other topic here that is listed as answered because someone said they were working on it, but obviously it's still a large issue with so many people reporting it.

It's already happened 3 times while writing this.

I run several speakers in a group playing Spotify.

I've noticed it seems like my systems have been rebooting a lot lately too, which I imagine is nightly or weekly updates.

Thanks for the input! Please post on the other topic too!

I've noticed many reboots too (or at least my devices just shut down and stay irresponsive for a few minutes)

NO UPDATES whatsoever... (at least, no update since the last UNLISTED firmware version, that was deployed to some but not all devices...)
