I got a new ethernet cable because my dog chewed up the other one, and it is now saying that I don't have it pluged. What are some ideas to try to get it to work?

As a first step, if it hasn’t been done already, zi would power down the source and destination for the Ethernet cable (wall jack and router, router and pc, whatever the Ethernet cable is actually connecting. Leave them off for at least 30 seconds (I have seen 2 minutes recommended) then power on the source. Wait a bit for it to power up, then power up the destination. There may be other things at play, but that is generally a solid start.
