Chromecast with Google TV unstable Bluetooth connection to Nest mini

brian37

I can connect Google TV to Nest mini, using Bluetooth, but it's an unreliable connection.  Disconnection can occur at any time.  Sometimes, I can go to Settings and reconnect to Nest mini.  Other times, I have to reboot Google TV or I have to reboot Nest mini as neither will connect to the other.  This is all taking too much time...

Any have any suggestions as to how to make this connection more stable?  I have tried things like turning off Surround Sound and other similar options.  Nothing has helped.

Thanks

Hi brian37,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear that you are having this situation with your Chromecast with Google TV and Bluetooth connection with your Nest mini. But don't worry, I can help.

Here are some  steps you can follow:

  1. Restart your Bluetooth device: Turn it off and back on to allow it to re-establish a connection.
  2. Minimize interference: Disconnect any unused Bluetooth devices from your Chromecast to avoid signal conflicts.
  3. Test your Bluetooth device: Try pairing the Nest Mini with another device (phone, tablet) to confirm it's functioning properly.
  4. Restart your Chromecast: Unplug it for 10 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to restart. Once powered on, attempt pairing again.

You can check the "Connect Bluetooth devices to Chromecast with Google TV" for more detail information.

Feel free to let me know if you've tried these steps or if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Jenny

Jenny,

Appreciate your response.  I had tried all the options at the link that you provided. I think most of what you posted is in that link.

  1. Restart your Bluetooth device: Turn it off and back on to allow it to re-establish a connection.  Yes, I've done this many times -- I've been forced to in order to reconnect.
  2. Minimize interference: Disconnect any unused Bluetooth devices from your Chromecast to avoid signal conflicts.  No other Bluetooth devices have been connected to Chromecast.
  3. Test your Bluetooth device: Try pairing the Nest Mini with another device (phone, tablet) to confirm it's functioning properly.    Yes, I've tested Nest mini successfully with two other devices. No Bluetooth issues were observed.
  4. Restart your Chromecast: Unplug it for 10 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to restart. Once powered on, attempt pairing again.  Yes, I've done this many times -- again, I was forced to as it was the only way that I could reconnect.

Chromecast and Nest mini SHOULD be 100% compatible but not sure if Google cares.  I'm pretty much ready to give up on Nest mini. I've ordered a speaker that will use 3.5mm Aux Audio so that I don't have to use Bluetooth with my Chromecast for Google TV.

Regards . . . . Brian

Just FYI for anyone who may experience the same issues.

1. Chromecast for Google TV is not fully compatible with Nest mini.  Connection is frequently broken.

2. Chromecast working perfectly with an AUX In speaker and with two other Bluetooth devices (JBL GO3 and Apple AirPods Pro).  No connection dropping issues.
