💡 10 Tips for Cannes Lions Festival Rookies💡 ✅ 1. Dress Right and Light: Cannes in June is hot, so pack those breezy outfits (I recommend linen) and comfy shoes for all that walking. Don't forget a light jacket for the cooler evenings—you’ll want to be prepared for those beachside soirées. ✅ 2. Hydrate Homie: With all the excitement (and free drinks), you might forget to drink water. Keep a refillable water bottle with you. Your future, less-dehydrated self will thank you. ✅ 3. Don't Sweat The Schedule: There’s a TON happening, so prioritize your must-see events but leave room for spontaneous fun. Flexibility is your friend. You will not see it all and that is OK! ✅ 4. Pace Yourself, please: It’s a week-long event with endless activities. Don’t burn out on day one. Take breaks, recharge, and remember—this isn’t a sprint. ✅ 5. Network like a Human: Get your LinkedIn QR codes ready. Whether it's your thing or not...it's the thing here. So dive into conversations and attend those after-parties (trust me.). Be yourself, don't force it, and get your talking points ready. ✅ 6. App Savvy: The Cannes Lions app is helpful for navigating the festival, checking schedules, and connecting with fellow attendees. Google Maps and Translate are great too. ✅ 6a. For all things on and off La Croisette, keep your ears to the street and do your best to RSVP to activations before you arrive. ✅ 7. Be Open, Learn from Everything: Get into sessions that spark your interest and even those that don’t. It's the creme de la creme of the industry. The gems will be dropped. ✅ 8. Stay Charged Up: Your devices will be your lifeline, so pack a portable charger. A dead phone is a networking nightmare. Bonus tip, wipe that lens off before all photos. That post Cannes LinkedIn post gotta be crispy! ✅ 9. Explore Cannes: Take some time to enjoy the city. Whether it’s the beaches, the food, or the local culture, a bit of exploration can be the perfect break from the hustle and bustle. A walk to the Cannes sign is what I recommend. You get an incredible view overlooking the city. ✅ 10. Follow Up Like a Boss: After the festival, reach out to your new contacts. A quick email or LinkedIn message can turn a casual chat into a lasting professional or personal connection. But don't be a robot. Try to remember conversations and follow up with actionable next steps when you can. Lastly, here are some activations I'm looking forward to this year: ◾ Pinterest Beach (The most creative. I got a tattoo here last year. 😎 ) ◾ Stagwell Sport Beach (Programming and talent is top tier) ◾ Inkwell Beach (All the vibes, great programming) ◾ Meta Beach (Great programming) ◾ Female Quotient (Great talent and programming) ◾Spotify (Didn't get in last year. Manifesting it this year lol) ◾ Club Quarantine Party (Best Party of the week) If you've been to Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and have additional tips drop them in the comments! See you all soon!
