After recent feedback, the chat window seems broken, the first few questions are answered, but then the later questions simply disappear as if sent to the bot, but no change (scrolling window with answer) is seen, so for each question, one has to start a new chat. Apart from that overall very convenient and useful to have the copilot right there, next to the work code |

In the new update, I've been having issues with the chat. The first question gets answered, but the following one stops working; it doesn't respond at all, nor does the new question appear. Additionally, if I work with two IntelliJ windows, after the first question, when I click to send, the chat from the other window I have open pops up. |

Update for Linux: plugin version 1.5.0.5148 works on Ubuntu (IntelliJ IDEA 2023.3.4). Can't confirm issues mentioned by others above: Copilot Chat works for me as expected (for multiple consecutive questions, that is). Environment:

@Akash1134 even in the latest version (1.5.0.5148) there is no way to make Copilot repeat an attempt (no 'try again' button) when questions fail, and they do fail really often. I frequently get 40-60% of a response, then "Oops, no response has returned" error (or no response from the start). And the workaround is not exactly convenient:

Currently, the plugin neither automatically retries nor warns the user when it runs into a network issue ? When a network issue happens, including temporary hiccups, the plugin will simply show "Responding..." indefinitely on each and every question asked from that point until restarting the whole IDE. Cancelling reply or deleting current conversation won't resolve the issue. Environment: Example of the network issue: |

They claim it uses GPT4, but when asked the same copilot chat says it uses GPT3 and isn't aware of GPT4 in IntelliJ. VSCode mentions about GPT-4 |

When using the /docs command, the reply will include the full function body. Can you consider just replying with the docstring and to skip the function itself. The function code is just a copy of what is in file, is irrelevant for the docstring and just adds noise to the answer. |

With the new update (1.5.0.5148) I can't deploy to vercel if Copilot is enabled on Webstorm (2023.3.4) + Windows (11) That error is gone if I disable copilot or close webstorm. |

I see that there's currently no support to set up a keyboard shortcut for "explain this" (as well as any other other function from the right-click context menu of the copilot) functions(s) in pycharm. any workaround/plans on implementing this soonishly? |

I don't see anyone else here with the same issue, but I'm getting "The current file is restricted and won't be used as context" on a repo of mine. The repository is a public project my own not tied to the organization I work for. This used to not be an issue, but seems to be after recent updates. My organization has no patterns set for file exclusion, nor do I have any set for my own usage. I can't tell if this is intended, and CoPilot Chat can't be used for my personal projects now given that my org sponsors the subscription (booo). If that's the case though the error is incorrect and misleading still.

Once I am away for my system for sometime may be 5 hours I closed the Intellij but it remains same, and then suddenly it works after trying multiple times after 20 mins

Thank you all for reporting this issue. We are actively looking into this issue. The problem is that it is working for the majority of users and very hard to reproduce. We have rolled out version 1.5.9 with some potential fixes. It would be very helpful if people can test 1.5.9 and verify the problem is fixed or still exists. Thank you all for your patience. |

Using Rider on Windows, the file references are illegible. Addendum: This happens when the panel width is not long enough to fit the file path on a single line. |

Same here, it's so annoying. I'm on macOs and after waking up from sleep or changing the network (connect to the VPN or disconnect, for example) the Chat won't work anymore. |

You can check cody by source graph too, it's good for jetbrains ide apart
from codeium which is also very good one

In PhpStorm 2022.3, Runtime version: 17.0.5+1-b653.14 amd64 in the chat, if I hit ctrl+enter to make new line, I get bunch of empty lines. Every time when I hit ctrl+enter, number of blank lines increases. Anyone know how can I prevent this, or it is a bug? |

IDE: WebStorm 2024.1.4 I was unable to use GitHub Copilot in previous days. However, in the recent update it prompts me that I can't use the chat service due to I couldn't access to default.exp-tas.com. There are also some similar links pointed in the Troubleshooting. After I added them into my VPN configuration, I can confirm that Copilot is starting to work on my machine again. Make sure you also have set VPN in the IDE, and set Copilot to use the IDE's VPN, if you have the same network trouble like mine.
