September 30th is the end of the fiscal year and the last day for Congress to fund the federal government. If funding isn’t passed, the government shuts down.
To date, the federal government has shut down 21 times, four times in the past 10 years. What does a government shutdown mean? Who’s impacted? What’s currently happening in Congress? Swipe through and remember, government shutdowns are impacted by your vote.

It’s a single, coordinated day when THOUSANDS of nonprofits across the country join corporations like Tumblr, Google, EBay, MTV and more to raise awareness of and hold events to register as many eligible voters as possible! Why is voter registration important? If you’re interested in having a say in WHO gets to confirm judges, create budgets for police and education in YOUR neighborhood, you’ll need to vote in November. But you can’t vote if you’re not #VoteReady – which means: go get registered! This year, we’re aiming for over 250k registrations and with your help we know we can make it. How can you help:

Today is a great day for democracy in Michigan! 🎉 Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a series of election bills into law expanding and protecting access to the ballot box.
These new laws: 🗳 Allow 16 year olds to pre-register to vote 🙌 Expand voter registration ❌ Criminalize poll worker intimidation 📅 Vote up to 9 days early ✅ Automatically register returning citizens (Making Michigan the first state to do so!)
Election season may not be the happiest season of all, but it doesn’t have to be the most dreadful, either. You can—and deserve—to have a little hope.
What does hope look like?
Hope looks like a vote. If you’re eligible to vote, it specifically looks like your vote. We teamed up with @whenweallvote to make it easy. For some, the deadline to register is fast approaching. Make sure to check with your state for any recent changes to election deadlines.

Once you’re done registering (or reregistering, if you moved!), the only thing you have to worry about is your actual vote. Scary, right? NO! It’s not! It’s so easy. We made a convenient voting checklist for you to keep on hand to remain calm, cool, and collected throughout the whole process.
Georgia residents have until December 7, 2020, to register to vote in the Senate runoff elections in January if they are not already registered. They can visit georgia.gov/register-to-vote to register online or download postage-paid voter registration applications to register by mail.
U.S. citizens in Georgia are eligible to register to vote if they are a legal resident of a GA county, are not currently serving a sentence for a felony conviction involving ‘moral turpitude,’ and have not been found 'mentally incompetent’ by a judge. Georgians can even register to vote at 17 ½ years of age, though they won’t be able to vote until they turn 18.
The January 5 runoff elections will determine which party controls the Senate and likely whether President-elect Joe Biden will face obstructionism or partnership while pursuing his policy initiatives. In one race, Democrat Jon Ossoff faces off with Sen. David Perdue, a Republican senator who is under intense scrutiny amid reports of the potentially inappropriate use of his office to further his financial interests. In the other, Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who was appointed to her office in December 2019 and also faces allegations of financial misconduct related to her position, faces off against challenger Rev. Raphael Warnock, a senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Georgians have until December 7 to register online, or they must postmark their mail application by December 7. Visit georgia.gov/register-to-vote for more information.
