Sustainability

At TransUnion, sustainability is integral to our belief in Information for Good®.

Our Sustainability priorities

We're committed to integrating sustainability into our business and culture.

In addition to the sustainability value created by our business, we maintain a sustainability program to advance our contributions to people and the planet. Our sustainability program focuses on areas most critical to our business, and below we detail some of these priorities.

At its core, our business is grounded in increasing financial inclusion and economic opportunity

We provide end-to-end offerings that allow our customers to develop and deliver responsible growth strategies while serving traditionally underserved consumers. Against a 2022 baseline, we identified 86 million new consumers across Canada, Hong Kong, India, Latin America, the Philippines, South Africa, the UK and US.

Diversity

Advancing climate action through renewable energy and efficiency

Through a 12-year agreement related to a facility expected to come online in April 2025, we expect to purchase renewable energy for our Chicago headquarters building generated by a new solar energy project in southern Illinois.

Diversity

Fostering a diverse and inclusive culture, and valuing associate well-being

In 2023, 11,526 TransUnion associates globally participated in Conscious Equity — an educational session building upon previous company-wide trainings on unconscious bias. This interactive, 60-minute program focused on practicing accountability and identifying tools to address bias in real-life workplace conversations.

Diversity

Cultivating a global governance and reporting model

We maintain a corporate governance program that upholds high ethical, legal and industry standards. Our commitment to compliance is a point of pride, and we place great importance in training and holding our associates accountable for compliance with all applicable legal and ethical standards.

Sustainability around the world

We’re proud to share the progress made against our Sustainability goals across the globe.

Brazil

We partnered with and provided data and other solutions to the most important and relevant FinTechs in Brazil, who are key drivers of financial inclusion. For example, our largest customer for alternative data increased their account holders from 39% of the adult population in 2022 to 51% in 2023.

Canada

We continue to make investments to drive financial inclusion, bringing in forms of non-credit payment history to consumer profiles to help develop a credit footprint more quickly, while also taking into account alternative obligations that indicate creditworthiness.

India

Through the Government of India Citizen Service Mobile App - 'Umang' - we have started delivering one free credit report upon request to drive financial awareness.

Latin America

We're working with the Colombian government to support the “Economia Popular” program which promotes financial inclusion and credit access for unserved populations in Colombia.

UK and Europe

In 2023, we renewed our environmental management system ISO 14001 certification of our UK headquarters. We have maintained an Environmental Management System of more than 10 years in this facility.

In 2023, we migrated approximately 140 applications to the cloud, shifted to a “cloud first” strategy for new product development and consolidated two of our on-premises data centers in Boca Raton, Florida and San Luis Obispo, California into our Chicago, Illinois data center.
