The Friendliest Store in Town
About us
New Seasons Market is a friendly neighborhood grocery store that believes great-tasting, local food has the power to build community and enhance lives. From taking care of our staff, partners, neighborhoods and the environment, to growing a sustainable and profitable business, we’re doing what we love with a commitment to cultivating a strong community centered around good food. We were the first grocer to achieve a B Corp certification, exceeding rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Founded in 2000 by three families and 50 friends in Portland, OR, we’re now a team of nearly 3,000 passionate staff across 21 stores in Oregon and SW Washington—serving a unique mix of locally sourced and organic items, classic grocery favorites, and chef-made grab and go meal solutions. Our mission is to be the ultimate neighborhood store. We focus on building and nourishing the communities we serve, creating lasting relationships with our customers, staff and vendors. We’re proud of our progressive values— from offering industry-leading compensation and benefits, to committing 10 percent of our after-tax profits to the communities we serve. We buy from as many local producers as possible, connecting them with our customers and doing our part to champion the regional food economy. At the same time, we operate in a financially responsible way, and do our best to inspire environmental stewardship. Come join us and see why we’re a different kind of grocery store.

🍓 It's strawberry season here in the Pacific Northwest, and we couldn't be more excited to share the luscious taste of local berries from our community partners! 🌱 At New Seasons Market, we're all about fresh, local produce that supports our community and nourishes your family. That's why we're proud to feature locally grown strawberries from the incredible farmers just a stone's throw from our stores. Why local strawberries? They're picked at peak ripeness, ensuring each berry bursts with the sweet flavors of the season. Plus, when you buy local, you help sustain our hardworking farming neighbors and reduce the environmental impact associated with long-distance food transport. Let's celebrate the joy of eating together with recipes that showcase the versatility of strawberries—whether it's a classic shortcake, a vibrant salad or a refreshing smoothie. #NewSeasonsMarket #LocalProduce #StrawberrySeason #FarmToTable #CommunitySupport #EatLocal #FreshPickings

The story of our local asparagus goes beyond the plate. Located on the Yakama Reservation in South Central Washington, Inaba Produce Farms was one of New Seasons Market's first partners 24 years ago—supplying local asparagus, zucchini, pepper, corn, cabbage and more. Since the Inaba family immigrated from Japan in 1907, they persevered in creating a sprawling 1500-acre, multi-generational farm, contributing some of their success to the kindness and support of the Yakama tribal members who shared the land. When Lon Inaba retired in 2022, he sold the farm to the CONFEDERATED TRIBES AND BANDS OF THE YAKAMA NATION. With this monumental exchange from the Inaba family, Yakama Nation Farms reclaimed the land, reestablishing the self-sufficiency the tribes once enjoyed in the era before westward expansion. We're proud to source local produce from this farmland, as it encourages food equity within our regional food economy. Partnering with Yakama Nation Farms also ensures we have the freshest, best-tasting asparagus (we get it just two days after harvest!) 🌾 Learn more by checking out our blog and video clip featuring Jonalee Squeochs and Chris Harris! https://lnkd.in/gzUgPydX

Happy 🌎 Day! Circular recycling: It’s a thing! Two years ago, we began collecting your used #1 PET plastic packaging at our stores and working with partners to create 100% post-consumer recycled clamshells for our deli and grab & go food. Since then, our circular recycling program has kept more than 2 million pieces of plastic out of landfills, in gratitude to our partnership with D6! Thank YOU for helping to make this happen 💚♻️

🌎 Just in time for Earth Month! As participants in the Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment, New Seasons Market is proud to announce significant strides we’ve made in reducing food waste: "Between 2019 and 2022, the eight chains that are a part of the Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment project reported a 25 percent decline in their total volumes of unsold food," shares Somini Sengupta in her recent The New York Times article 🗑️ 💨 Sengupta also notes, "Food waste accounts for 8 to 10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, roughly equal to emissions from aviation and shipping combined." Our collective 25 percent reduction in unsold food waste equals an estimated 30 percent decrease in greenhouse gas emissions 🌱 If you want to learn more, give the below linked report a read 🔄 #FoodWaste #Grocery #GreenhouseGas #PacificCoast #Sustainability #ClimateAction #NewSeasonsMarket
