Today, over half the seafood we eat is farmed and that number is only growing. Responsible fish farming, also known as aquaculture, is vital to providing healthy protein to grocery stores, restaurants and your dinner plate. Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) CEO Chris Ninnes explores this topic – and why ASC’s work matters – together with Food Tank President Danielle Nierenberg during the "All Things Food Summit at SXSW 2024.”

Sea Green. Be Green. Look for the Label.
About us
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is an independent, nonprofit organization on a mission to transform aquaculture toward environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Since 2010, ASC has been creating and enforcing the world’s strictest combination of standards for: Improving farmed seafood quality and safety Protecting the environment, workers and communities Ensuring supply chain integrity by tracing from the farm to the store Providing full transparency through public disclosure ASC is the only certification program that can verify: your seafood is what it claims to be, where it came from, how it was responsibly raised, and how it got to you. What’s more? When you choose our sea green label, not only are you protecting oceans, coasts and wildlife, but you are also investing in restoring them. Together with our partners, ASC is moving aquaculture forward by improving the reliability, traceability and quality of farmed seafood across North America.
