Laland Baptiste CEO Schillivia Baptiste, P.E., Assoc. DBIA recently attended the annual MWBE Summit hosted by Professional Women in Construction, New York. Here’s a little gem from when Schillivia and Robert Baptiste, our CEO and COO, brought their sons to the office for #BringYourChildToWorkDay. It’s safe to say that the boys enjoyed learning about engineering and some of our current projects. Of course they did - their parents are engineers! 👷🏾♂️👷🏾♀️🏗️ #FutureEngineers #WorkplaceLearning #NextGenerationEngineers

Yesterday's "Building Success: Women Forging Futures in Construction" webinar, hosted by Marcum LLP's Women's Construction Group, was an enlightening journey through the diverse avenues shaping women's careers in a predominately male-dominated field. The esteemed panel of successful women we learned from, Vincencia “Vee” Adusei, Schillivia Baptiste, P.E., Assoc. DBIA, Kathleen Cloud, and Dawn Meeker, CPA, showcased the power of consistency, persistence, and proving one's worth through action. Some of my key takeaways: ◾ The construction field is ripe with opportunities, welcoming those from skilled trades and various educational backgrounds to bring their unique perspectives and talents. ◾ Success in the industry is as much about expertise as it is about the drive to lead and mentor others. ◾ Although the percentage of women in construction remains in the single digits, it has doubled in the last four years, which speaks volumes about the evolving landscape and the potential for continued growth as skills and knowledge advance. It was encouraging to see the tenacity of women who often find themselves as one of the few, if not the sole, female voices in the room. ◾ Mentorship and active participation in networking groups are vital. It's not just about building structures but also connections and support systems that foster growth and advancement for women in this dynamic field. The stories shared and the progress highlighted were truly inspiring, and I look forward to following the ongoing efforts to drive transformative change in the #construction industry. #WomenInConstructionWeek #KeysToTheFuture #MarcumEverywhere

🌟 February was a whirlwind of activity and engagement for us at Laland Baptiste! As we continue to innovate in the engineering and construction industry, we're excited to share two standout moments from this month that reflect our commitment to both our community and our professional growth. In a heartfelt display of solidarity and awareness, on February 2nd, the Laland Baptiste team donned red attire to commemorate the American Heart Association’s #WearRedDay. This important day shines a spotlight on heart health, and we were proud to join hands in raising awareness about cardiovascular disease prevention. Our team's health and well-being are paramount, and participating in this event reinforced our commitment to supporting each other's health journeys. 🏗️ We believe engagement with our professional community is key to our growth and impact. This month, we had the privilege of attending the ACEC New York's Winter Conference / Infrastructure Policy Networking Reception in Albany. This event was a significant opportunity for us to connect with fellow professionals, discuss the future of infrastructure policy, and explore collaborative avenues that will shape our industry's trajectory. Our team left inspired, informed, and more connected than ever to the pulse of our profession. As March begins, we reflect on a February filled with meaningful engagement, professional development, and community support. These events are just a snapshot of our ongoing journey to excel and contribute positively to both our industry and society. Here's to forging ahead with purpose, passion, and partnership in March and beyond! 🌟🌐 📷: Mike Groll Photography Loring Consulting Engineers, Inc. , AI Engineers, Inc. , COWI , Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, Lu Engineers Julie Harris NCAA CHAMPION, Jared M.
