And yes, that is me with my daughter today on the exact same holiday. And the lovely woman (also known as Grandma) from the older photo is holding my daughter today at Kiewit! Why? Well, today was once again Take Your Child to Work Day, and I had the joy of bringing my daughter along for the first time! It's amazing to think that my first Take Your Child to Work Day was back in 2001 when my mom, who has been with Kiewit for 36 years, brought me to experience the Kiewit family. Fast forward to today, and here we are, two generations strong at the firm, with my daughter getting a glimpse into the company that has been such a big part of our family's journey. It's a true testament to Kiewit's culture and values and why so many of us choose to stay and grow careers here. Thank you, Kiewit, for providing a workplace where families can thrive and for fostering a sense of belonging that spans generations.”

Last week, donors, students, staff, and students gathered to celebrate Kiewit’s gift of $250,000 towards the BCIT INSPIRE Campaign which supports the next generation of tradespeople in BC in particular, those in the School of Construction and the Environment which is a leading contributor of trades, engineering, applied science, and natural science professionals in the province. In recognition of Kiewit’s generous donation, the BCIT Foundation is also pleased to announce the naming of the Kiewit Tool Room located in NE4 (Carpentry Building) at the Burnaby campus. The space will enhance learning for students in the innovative BCIT Carpentry program as it is the first trade to fully incorporate the BC Energy Step Code (ESC) into its curriculum. We are grateful to Kiewit for their generous donation to the INSPIRE Campaign and continued partnership for over 20 years. Kiewit’s gift supports enhanced learning experiences for trades students at BCIT and better prepares them to meet challenges in a complex world. If you’re looking for a reason to be excited about the future of construction and engineering, these girls are it! Nearly 100 Girl Scouts, grades 2nd through 12th, visited our Kiewit Training Center in Aurora, Colorado, for the "Build Like a Girl" event. The girls learned how rigging pulleys work, experienced what it’s like to operate a crane in our crane simulator, made a wooden crate using miter saws and created concrete flowers. “We believe in inspiring the next generation of female leadership in our industry, and we are grateful for the volunteers from the Girl Scouts and Kiewit who helped make this event possible. Nothing excites us more than lighting a fuse for young women interested in pursuing a career in construction and engineering.” – Kiewit Area Manager Chris Stolzer By partnering with organizations like the Girl Scouts, we are showing young women some of the many career opportunities in our industry, and we hope it gets them excited about STEM opportunities!
