Updates

  • “I moved to the United States from Cuba in 2023. My father, who also works for TIC, introduced me to the trades. I knew it was a great opportunity." Julio Zaldivar began his TIC career last year as a pipe helper at the Intermountain Power Plant (IPP) Renewal Project in Delta, Utah. He recently transferred to the Magnolia Power Generating Station in Plaquemine, Louisiana, as a pipefitter craftsman 1. His dedication and quick learning propelled him into a pipefitter craftsman 2 role. He was also selected for the company’s Accelerated Journeyman Development Program (AJDP) to become a pipefitter journeyman. Since leaving Cuba, Julio always looks for opportunities to improve his fluency in English by helping translate for his coworkers from Spanish to English. “It’s not only helped me, but has also helped our team’s communication and collaboration.” Thank you for your hard work and determination, Julio!

  • Here's a look at the Mill Creek 5 Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) Project in Louisville, Kentucky. TIC will be improving the coal-fired power facility by adding a 1x1 GE Power Island. This update will help lower carbon emissions and provide surrounding communities with a more efficient energy supply. The project also includes the addition of a new cooling tower, field-constructed water storage tanks and integrating the new power island with the plant’s current utilities and switchyard. “We’re excited to join the Louisville community for this rewarding opportunity. We're looking for heavy equipment operators and laborers to support earthwork operations. Underground utility construction will begin this fall, then we'll be hiring electricians and pipefitters in September for these scopes.” - Project Manager Wayne Wilson Learn more about the project and view the full job openings by downloading the TIC Craft News and Information App at https://bit.ly/3uutK0t.

  • Last month, Golden Triangle Polymers Project (GTPP) employees hosted a “Life on Site & Craft Appreciation” family event at Clairborne West Park in Vidor, Texas. The day included a BBQ cookoff contest, cornhole tournament, live music and raffle prizes. “It feels great to be able to show my family who I work with and give them a chance to get excited about the work we do. The culture we are building on the job really shows through at events like these” said Project Engineer Jason Thayer. Project vendors and subcontractors were also in attendance, sharing in the camaraderie. “Many of us work and live away from home. Events like these help us refresh, give us time with family and friends, and remind us why we work,” said Project Quality Director Randy Maxwell.
