This weekend marked the start of Pride Month globally, an important time to raise awareness of the history, culture, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, and to encourage greater understanding and acceptance of one another.   American Express has a long and proud history of backing our LGBTQ+ colleagues, customers, and communities. Some highlights of our efforts include: - Since 2004, we have scored 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, the US’ foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. - We started our PRIDE+ Colleague Network in 1995 to help cultivate an inclusive environment for our LGBTQ+ colleagues and supporters. In the nearly 30 years since, we’ve grown to 18 PRIDE+ chapters across 15 countries. - We continue to work with supplier diversity advocacy organizations to expand opportunities for diverse suppliers, including the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).    I’m proud of these efforts and of our continued focus on #TeamAmex to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, marketplace, and society. This month and beyond, I encourage you to lead with authenticity and celebrate the unique identities and perspectives of those you work with.

We’re so proud to be ranked #3 on Forbes’ 2024 list of America’s Best Employers for New Grads in the U.S., especially as we welcome this year’s class of interns through our Summer Internship Program. Every year, we have interns in several countries working on meaningful projects across many business units. We know they will gain valuable experience through networking sessions, time to connect with senior leaders and the opportunity to deliver great results as a part of #TeamAmex.    Explore our student opportunities: https://go.amex/students

#CompromisoSocial

It was a pleasure to sit down with David Novak on the How Leaders Lead podcast to reflect on my 40-year career at American Express and leadership style. I hope our conversation helps others develop their own leadership skills, as I think we all have to be agile learners, who are willing to continuously learn. In fact, no one should ever stop their journey of learning. You should always ask for, listen to and evaluate feedback. You should also pay it forward - making sure you're providing feedback to your direct reports and others so that they can grow and develop as the next generation of leaders.

It’s #TeamAmex Tuesday! This month, Gem is sharing her experience with our newly launched Neurodiversity Benefit in the UK: My name is Gem and I’ve been on #TeamAmex for more than 25 years. Since day one, I've always felt supported and encouraged to be my authentic self at American Express. Recently, I started noticing that the way I process information, learn, and communicate felt different than others, which led me to wonder if I was neurodivergent. I then discovered the Amex Neurodiversity benefit, which has since been life changing. In the UK, getting a diagnosis can take several months, and follow-up care can be costly. But with our new Neurodiversity benefit, everything was expedited, and I saved over £1,500. I worked with their team of virtual practitioners to get an assessment, details on my diagnosis, and follow-up care with group support sessions. This has not only transformed my personal and family life, but it has enabled me to adapt my work style and communications, ensuring my leaders and I get the best out of each other. I’m so grateful for the support Amex has offered me over the years – with every new chapter in my life, I feel backed with amazing benefits. Find your place on #TeamAmex: https://lnkd.in/eui79yGZ

Last week, The American Express Leadership Academy hosted 73 non-profit leaders in Sydney, in partnership with Common Purpose. Participants from across the APAC region heard from inspiring leaders, including former Australian Rugby Union Captain, John Eales. “Love what you do, not what you did,” John shared. “People fear change, but you have to dig a bit deeper to understand why they fear change. I think a lot of the time when they fear change, they fear loss more than the change itself.” If you’re a non-profit leader based in the Americas eager to bring fresh, courageous thinking inside and outside your organization, we are still accepting applications for our New York program in November.   Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gyGj5aUs   #AmexLeadershipAcademy

We’re thrilled to be ranked No. 3 on Forbes’ 2024 list of America’s Best Employers for New Grads. This list was determined based on feedback from young professionals on areas such as salary and benefits, development opportunities, work-life balance, company image, and diversity, equity and inclusion.    Our Chief Colleague Experience Officer, Monique Herena, spoke with Forbes about some of the ways we back new colleagues joining #TeamAmex, including our enterprise career growth model that “is meant for all colleagues, no matter their career stage or area of the business,” and our NextGen Colleague Network, which is focused on strengthening connections and fostering collaboration across generations.    We’re proud to offer all colleagues a compelling value proposition that includes meaningful work and many opportunities to grow throughout their career, a flexible and inclusive culture with a strong sense of belonging, and competitive pay and benefits to support their holistic well-being.    Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ebD5XRNT
