Overview
Our Japan office advises clients on some of the most significant transactions in the Asia-Pacific market, including Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company's USD 5.7 billion acquisition of Protective Life Corporation and Gestamp Solar's project financing for construction of a 31.6 MW photovoltaic project in Ibaraki Prefecture - the largest solar financing provided to a foreign sponsor in Japan.
As Japan's largest international law firm, we leverage our Firm's global footprint to help multinational companies and financial institutions pursue the overseas investments and business ventures they need to succeed. The quality of our work is reflected in the awards we have won, including "M&A Deal of the Year" and "Debt Market Deal of the Year" for advising The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ on its USD 12.5 billion loan facility to Suntory Holdings for the buyout of premium spirits company Beam Inc. - the largest foreign acquisition by a Japanese company in recent years.
With more than 40 years of experience in the market, we are ranked Band 1 by Chambers Asia Pacific for tax and banking and finance, as well as Tier 1 by The Legal 500 for antitrust, construction, M&A, insolvency and real estate. No matter the legal issue, our more than 160 lawyers and economists are committed to helping clients fulfil their ambitions in an increasingly complex global marketplace.
