Add, rename, or delete a column from your board

This is only available for team-managed projects

Only project admins can add, edit, or delete columns for business projects that have the same workflow for all of their issue types. Workflows associated to only subtasks issue types are not available to use on the board view. More about how to edit or create workflows

Easily add, edit, or delete columns to your team-managed project’s board view. Make updates to your project’s workflow within the board view without needing to navigate to the project settings to update your team’s workflow. The columns on the board view are controlled by your project’s workflow, so updates made to your board’s columns will be reflected in your workflow. Tell me more about workflows

Important to note:

  • Your board view must be grouped by status (which is the default) to add, edit, or delete columns from the board

  • You can only add, edit, or delete columns in the board view for a project with one single workflow

Add a column from your board

Adding a column to your board creates a new status for your business project’s workflow. The newly added column, will be a status in the in-progress status category. More about status categories

To add a column to your board, you can:

  1. Select the plus symbol ➕ at the far right of your columns in the board view to create a column.

  2. Give your column a name. Something that’s reflective of the process in the workflow you’re adding this column for.

  3. Select the tick symbol , or press enter or return.

  4. Drag the card of the items that you want to sit under this column.

  5. You can rearrange the order of your columns to suit where you would like your column to sit in the workflow. Read more about rearranging your columns in your board

Rename a column from your board

To rename a column on your board, you can:

  1. Select the text in the column that you’d like to rename. Alternatively, select Actions (…), and then Rename.

  2. Enter a new name, thinking about what step in your workflow this column represents.

  3. Hit enter or select the tick symbol .

  4. Drag the card of the items that you want to sit under this column.

Delete a column from your board

To delete a column from your board, you can:

  1. Select the Actions (…) in the top-right corner of the column you’d like to delete.

  2. Select Delete.
