stop feeling hopeless, start getting ready

If you are in a red state, your state either has an abortion ban in place or is rated by the Guttmacher Institute as likely to enact a ban. Your focus should be on protecting yourself and others who need abortions.

  • stop using electronic period tracking apps or software
  • educate yourself and others about pregnancy prevention and join groups that are making preventative birth control more accessible
  • learn the nearest and most accessible routes to states where you and your loved ones can access abortion
  • contribute to mutual aid funds to help transport people over state lines if they are in need of abortion
  • consider joining The Satanic Temple so you can claim protections under the Religious Abortion Ritual if you are prosecuted for obtaining an abortion
  • keep a stock of by-mail abortion pills for yourself and/or others who may need them (you may need to travel out of state to obtain them)
  • form community provider networks and see if you or someone you know can be trained to use manual vacuum aspiration kits or a Del-Em
  • all of the above should be done in complete secrecy using verbal communication, end-to-end encrypted apps such as Signal, or a VPN

If you are in a yellow state, you currently have constitutional abortion protections but they are in jeopardy. Get active in local political groups NOW to fight back against constitutional amendments to ban abortion. Your focus should be purely on political action.

If you are in Michigan, you currently have a ban in place which is being challenged, and your governor is working to add abortion protections into the Michigan state constitution. Your focus should be on supporting the work that is currently under way.

If you are in a green state, your state has constitutional protections for abortion that are unlikely to be challenged. Your focus should be on helping others to enter your state for abortion care.

  • connect with abortion access groups such as Aid Access, Abortion on Demand, the National Network of Abortion Funds, or Just The Pill
  • volunteer to help people enter your state for abortion care, either with transportation help or letting someone crash on your couch
  • if you live in a green state with no current or predicted primary routes from other states for abortion access, you can focus your efforts on supporting political action in other areas

If you are in a purple state, your state currently has no constitutional protections for abortion but is unlikely to implement a ban. You have two focuses: pushing for constitutional protections AND helping others to enter your state for abortion care (see green state list).

Do not join the satanic temple just because of this, they haven’t won the case so there’s no actual protection for you in that and as both islam and judaism don’t consider abortion murder and christian anti choicers don’t give a shit about that either I doubt they will win

Hey y'all, I really hate to be doing this, but I'm homeless right now and I could really use any help y'all could possibly provide while I'm trying to get back on my feet.

I know times are tough for everyone, so obviously no real pressure here. If you can help though, my Venmo is @Molly-Piper-2

Thank you all so much 🙏💜

EDIT also, my PayPal is [email protected] for those of y'all who prefer that!

EDIT: I do have housing lined up now, I'm just trying to get by until then!

Congrats! Also this has "Tell-Tale Heart" energy.

I recently had Fahed and his family reach out to me in need of aid, still far off their GoFundMe goal. If you can spare even a small amount, please consider supporting this family of 8. Reblogs to share the campaign are very appreciated as well! Thank you!!

So I finally watched Barbie and I enjoyed it more than I'd expected! Some thoughts:

  1. I found the meta humor cleverer than the gender commentary (which honestly came off as entry-level Feminism 101). Never before have I found self-aware product placement to be entertaining.
  2. The weird focus on horses as emblematic of patriarchy had me internally laughing in Scythian.
  3. As always, Kate McKinnon is iconic. That outfit? Gay in the best way possible. I ship Weird Barbie with Stereotypical Barbie (and Magic Earring Ken with Sugar Daddy Ken, for that matter).

Some spins on the "mostly male team with a token woman" trope:

  • The woman is trans and stayed in her old circle of bros even after transition
  • The woman is the only one in her circle of "girls" who didn't turn out to be a trans man

  • Everyone is bigender. They take turns being the one woman.

Hi Neil, I wonder if you'd consider sharing this link? The building of the Norwich Western Link road is a huge threat to rare Barbastelle bats and other species. It will threaten the UK's LARGEST known rare bat colony. As many people who can object to the road as possible will at the very least raise awareness and hopefully cause a change :) if it was pandas and rhinos at threat we would all be up in arms, so let's do it for the bats.

In middle school, back when I still thought I was a boy, I hated how wanting to date an alluring, powerful, protective vampire was seen as a girl thing.

Bringing this back because, if I had a time machine, I'd absolutely go back 15 years and tell tween me "okay you're a dyke, let's take you down to the library and pick up a copy of Carmilla"

Fadi Al-Sharif (above) @fadisharif11, his wife Shahed @shahedsharif11, their baby (above), and Fadi's parents and 6 siblings are trying to evacuate from Gaza to Egypt. Their home was destroyed after it was bombed by the occupation, and they are now all displaced. Initially they were sent to Rafah, but the recent assault has caused them to have to flee once again to Deir al-Balah. This is extremely difficult, stressful, and dangerous for all of them, as there is no safe corridor for civilian travel.

They are a large family of 11 people, and as such, the fees required for their evacuation are high. They include,

Fadi $5000

His wife and child: $7,500

Father $5,000

Mother $5,000

Brothers, $15,000

Sisters: $15,000

Expenses in Egypt: $10,000

Their campaign has made good progress, but it is still about 50% incomplete. We are hoping for Fadi, Shahed, and their family to be able to evacuate by the time Rafah crossing reopens. You can help make this happen today! Please share this fund by reblogging this post and reposting the link (https://gofund.me/db7ffcc3) to your blogs and your other social media accounts.

Thank you

Rescue efforts are ongoing in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s southernmost state, after floods and landslides left at least 100 people dead and displaced more than 200,000. As well as local residents, rescue groups have also dedicated themselves to saving pets stranded on rooftops and in flooded homes.

For those who live abroad and want to help, well-known NGOs are making their channels available for donations in foreign currency.

That is the case of the Brazil Foundation’s Luz Alliance Fund, created by fashion model Gisele Bündchen, and the Homeless Workers’ Movement’s (MTST) PayPal through its “Solidarity Kitchen” project. The MTST’s goal is to deliver 2,400 meals daily.

Another crowdfunding project is supported by companies and influencers from all over Brazil, and donations can be made in U.S. dollars, euros, and British pounds.
