SatBK Week 3: Royal

Lancelot knows his destiny- his love for the queen of Camelot is to doom the kingdom and be Gawain's death knell. When Gawain receives the crown from Sir Sonic, he decides he is going to take a page out of the knight of the wind's book: twist fate to their liking. There will be no Queen of Camelot if Lancelot takes the position of King Consort himself. If Gawain gives Lancelot his heart and his kingdom, then his knight cannot break them unintentionally.

Summary: Sir Lamorak participates in his first tournament and is wounded grievously, and as he lays agonizing on his death bed, is surprised to find aid comes from an unlikely source- aloof, cold Lancelot and his family enemy Gawain.

Contains: Minor Injury! Lamorak dislocated his shoulder and got cut. but is exaggerating a lot. Gawain and Lancelot are friends! Lamorak and Gawain are enemies! Percival is Lamorak's sister!

It’s a right of passage for every knight, almost as important as kneeling and receiving the title of knighthood.

The first blood drawn in combat. First injury undertaken in defense of king and kingdom. First proof of courage and determination on the battlefield.

It is a knights first honor- and Lamorak is in so much agony that he wishes he would just die already. 

Honor and glory do nothing to soothe the ache in his shoulder that leaves him breathless from pain. Chivalry and duty will not keep the blood from oozing down his shoulder blades.

It wasn’t much of a life, but the young knight is still depressed that it’s being cut so short. Lamorak simultaneously wishes it would end faster, because agonizing through a slow death is even worse.

“You are not going to die, Sir Lamorak,” Lancelot’s voice is low and soothing as the older knight gently dabs a cool rag against the hawk’s face, wiping away sweat and grime and blood, “Not today. Not from this wound.”
