Kat, He/they. NOT A BOT! I had the three numbers first. Just a very queer, anarcho-socialist punk and advocate. I love D&D, and sometimes I write things. Fascists, bigots, and exclusionists unkindly fuck off. I'm neither Cis nor Het.

This is one of the oldest surviving recordings of a trans person.

Masoud El Amaratly (1897-1944) was an Iraqi trans singer who became famous in 1920s Baghdad for his folk music. He worked as a farmer before transitioning in his teens. The mustarjil, a term similar to trans man, then moved to the city and sang in cafΓ©s. A music agent discovered him there and his fame spread across West Asia.

Enjoy this 1925 recording of him singing the traditional Iraqi song, "Khadri al Chai" ("Please Make Tea"). Check out Ajam's website for more.

β€œMust have reliable transportation” =Β β€œthis is how we legally discriminate against poor people who take the bus”

As someone who has held several management positions with hiring responsibility, this is true. The boss at my last job informed me before I conducted my very first I interview,

β€œYou can’t outright ask someone if they have a car or have kids. That’s technically illegal. But you need to know because sometimes they can be deal breakers. You can just say β€˜Do you have reliable transportation?’ and β€˜Do you have any current circumstances that could impede you from being successful at work?’

To which the last one most people fumble and would say, β€œWell I have kids, so sometimes they could get sick. But that’s not often.” But then your potential employer could mark it down on your interview notes nonetheless.

I thought that maybe it was just my own employer. But now I noticed that I am asked both of these almost every time I interview for a job.

Language is very sneaky. Be careful how you answer. Corporations can be snakes.

In my businesses class my professor told us that the bus counts as reliable transportation. You do not legally have to say β€œI take the bus” just say β€œyes I do have reliable transportation” and leave it at that. Do not over share. DO NOT OVER SHARE. The second question just say no. If your kids are sick call out as if you are sick. I don’t have kids but I myself can get sick and that doesn’t hinder my ability to succeed so kids getting sick shouldn’t hinder you. When I call out I give as little info as possible. No one needs to know why you call out. They can’t ask about your β€œillness” because it violates HIPAA if they do. So as long as you don’t offer more info than you need to you should be okay.

One of my first job interviews I answered the transportation question β€œmy family will arrange to either give me a ride or let me drive my mom’s car every time I need to go to work.” The rest of the interview was basically just to make it look like they weren’t not hiring me because I didn’t have a car.

At the job that did hire me, the first year and a half was that arrangement and I never missed work or arrived late because of car sharing.

it's such a bummer that losing control of your emotions only makes the entire situation worse in really embarrassing personal ways. losing control of my emotions should give me pyrokinesis.

hey now that it’s disability pride month can you please remember to include people with Down syndrome and other chromosomal defects into your activism. they’re so often left behind. I literally never see anyone spreading Down syndrome awareness that isn’t close family of someone with Down syndrome. They exist and they’re living breathing humans who deserve just as much activism as every other disabled person

I haven't seen this circulating here on Tumblr, so I decided to make my own post.

last saturday, in Porto, there was a pride parade going down the street and this old man was standing there, by his front door, waving the portuguese flag. most people on the parade probably thought the same: old person waving the national flag? he's probably protesting against the parade, he's a nationalist of some sort.

then the old man called for that person to come near him. the whole parade stopped. everyone just.. stopped moving. they didn't know what to expect, and most expected the worst. and that person decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and approached the old man. and then... they traded flags, he hugged the person and then he waved the pride flag happily. everyone cheered him.

such a wholesome moment. πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈπŸŒˆ

Even as a zelink shipper whenever people refer to Link and Zelda as soulmates it makes me laugh, cause yeah you're not wrong they totally are but Ganondorf is also technically their soulmate in that regard? The poly shippers have gotten around that issue but for everyone else he's literally born to third wheel. No wonder he's pissed, not only does he never get to realize his ambitions he's gotta watch that awkward teenage romance over and over for eternity. It's like he keeps scrolling past his NOTP and the block button isn't working. Bottling the princess just pisses off the other one, and the other one has the invincibility of a Nokia cell phone. What's a born hater to do

throwback to when I tried to explain how incredibly important wording is in law and legalese. trans men should have access to abortion, paternity leave, healthcare etc. if legal documentation says "women/females" now have access to this or that, then that means legally, trans men, especially those who have changed their gender marker to "male," are not included when they should be.

it's that simple. that's why wording like "those who menstruate / those who give birth / those who have this anatomy" is necessary.

"little things" like gynecologists thinking there's been a mistake or a prank call and cancelling appointments with trans men because the ID system shows them as "male" with a "traditionally male" name also stem from this. and actually that's NOT a little thing, that's fucked! that's being barred from healthcare because doctors don't know or believe you exist? erasure and invisibility of trans men is a problem, not a convenience.

AINT NO WAY

Me when I’m the most famous contemporary writer in the world and don’t understand what an analogy is

oh no she understands what an analogy is. but she's pandering to terfs to further her agenda and ideology. it's actually far more sinister than just plain stupidity, because at least then you can learn from it

in this case, she's pandering to people who are a little less than able to think critically (a lot of people online, let's be real) and who are so reactionary, of course they'll immediately agree with something she's trying to portray as "misogynistic" without thinking WHY that analogy was being made in the first place, or what it even means

weaponized stupidity is not true stupidity, as stupidity is the lack of understanding something. she fully understands what she's doing my dudes
