I have nothing against Farcille, genuinely. But it’s been very interesting seeing that a fandom mostly defined by a femslash ship for once can get just as brainwormed about their OTP to the point of ultimately and fundamentally misunderstanding/mischaracterizing the entire thing as any other fandom dominated by mslash.

literally untrue. literally SO untrue in fact that you have completely misinterpreted this entire body of work, its themes, and its narratives. you in fact did that so badly you have invented an entirely different fucking piece of art.

“if marcille hadnt used the red dragon to resurrect marcille etc etc” is still even then patently untrue. the point is that laios would do anything for his sister with or without help. the point is that chilchuck would do anything for his friends despite how loudly he’d complain. the point is that izutsumi doesn’t need any of these freaks but she chooses to join them long after she realizes they can’t help her break her curse because she recognizes they need her. the point is that you can argue that SENSHI is the only reason that the entirety of dunmeshi happens because otherwise the group would be malnourished and fucked up and be no better, or even worse than, toshiro’s party.

the point is that complete strangers are drawn into resurrecting this one girl. kabru’s obsession with laios invites the canaries’ involvement. the captain of the canaries finding meaning in his relationship with kabru involves him. the empathy and kindness laios feels for the denizens of the golden kingdom has them get directly involved as well. the entire island, by the end of the manga, become directly a part of this quest to bring falin back to life, and it isnt just because marcille is in lesbians with her.

it’s because to exist, to live, is to connect and be connected to other people in an endless web of desire and need and want. to be a person means to be a person with other people, no matter how distant or detached you think you ever are. to be loved enough and known by a single person is to be loved and known by hundreds, thousands of people through the spiraling tangle of connections. the point was never and could never be “it’s because of marcille”. the point was always “it’s because everyone is in this together and the most profound connection everyone shares is the need to eat to live and live well.”

On the one hand, deciding to do a herringbone pattern probably increased the floor renovation project time by 4-5 hours. On the other hand, my library floor is going to look bomb as hell (just as soon as I run to Home Depot for more flooring because I ran out 😬). We’ll do black grout in here as well. And once the floor is done…I can start building bookshelves 🎉🎉🎉

Finally. Ready for grout and also ready for this project to be over. Not to sound old, but my knees are not what they used to be.

Ok, it’s been a hot minute but we are finally making progress again on the library! We have moved the door a foot so we can have wall to wall shelves, and the bookcases are all built! I just have to sand and seal them and hopefully we can install them this weekend.

(!!!!!!!!!) We are sanded and installed! Finishing up the toe kicks tomorrow and then I will seal everything this weekend and hopefully start unpacking books next week!

Books are all unpacked and starry night projector installed. Now we wait for the new light fixture, shelf lighting, and rug to arrive. ❤️

Light fixture installed, rug laid, throw pillows thrown. Bookcase lighting should arrive this weekend and I’m debating adding gold stars to the ceiling. But we’re nearly done!

Ok, it’s before and after time:

I really am in love. I still need to make the rolling ladder and figure out what to do with the TV wall (the wall the couch is facing). But I have to focus on more pressing projects for a bit, so expect a final update in a few months, maybe! ❤️

I love that my job is very rarely customer-facing because I'm a horrible feral gremlin woman unsuitable for public consumption, but sometimes I wish I did more field work b/c I really cannot express how great it is to be the one who gets to tell rich people that their mcmansion's foundation is subsiding

I stand in front of some tech startup asshole who makes more money in a day than I do in a year. I lift up my hard hat so I can twirl my hair around my finger while I giggle like an excited schoolgirl. "So, like, we need to talk about sinkhole remediation and stuff..."
