Panel 3: Zoom out to Calvin's mom, still sitting, facing Calvin's dad as he gives her a magazine. Calvin's dad continues, "You got a 'you're not attractive enough' women's magazine with an article on swimsuits that minimize all your body flaws."
Panel 4: Mid-torso up closeup of Calvin's dad on a red background as he keeps going through the mail. He continues, "Here are some 'you're not stylish or ostentatious enough' catalogs... and coincidentally, an invitation to go deeper in debt from a credit card company."
Panel 5: Hip up closeup of Calvin's dad on a white background as he keeps going through the mail, one of which is falling out of his hands. He continues, "And here's our news magazine to identify the trend of the week we're missing, ... and i got a hobby magazine featuring new equipment I ought to have." In another speech bubble, he continues, "Yikes."
Panel 6: Zoom out to include Calvin's mom, who is sitting and looking through the magazine. Calvin's dad, with wrinkles on his forehead and scratching the side of his head, continues, "... Why do I get the feeling that society is trying to make us discontented with everything we do and insecure about who we are?"
Panel 7: Mid-torso up closeup of Calvin's mom on a purple background. Calvin's mom replies, "I suppose if people thought about real issues and needs instead of manufactured desires, the economy would collapse and we'd have total anarchy."
Panel 8: Zoom out to Calvin's dad walking behind Calvin's mom at the table, teeth gritted. "So pitching this junk would make me some kind of terrorist, huh?" Calvin's dad says. Calvin's mom replies, "Yep. It's our patriotic duty to buy distraction from a simple life." Calvin is seen in the bottom right of the frame, saying "Hey Mom, I saw a bunch of products on TV that I didn't know existed, but I desperately need!" End ID.
