I did not expect my 2024 Hyperfixation would be "County Fair exhibiting"/My pencils but here we are. I'm already trying to figure out what to make/enter next year.

I entered my pencil collection -

(the theme is Lets Go Retro and these were from the 80s) and in looking to see if anyone else collects them, found some weird things:

  1. there are a WHOLE group of them that I don't have!? Possibly sold on the east coast cause all the ones I'm seeing on ebay are East Coast.
  2. There's also a bunch of Sport ones that I don't have
  3. There is a mystery behind who made them. Been trying to find the company (they are labeled D56 so possibly Department 56, who only makes those Christmas villages since the 1990s but they don't have a clue as to if they also made the pencils since they bought the company in 2001). Can't find anything about them otherwise online, just people selling em.
  4. The original picture that I posted to @imremembering made its way to Nostalgia sites the world over. Its been on Pinterest in Spain, Mexico, Japan, and Thailand and I found them on sites in Poland, Israel, Greece and Brazil?? Oh and on ebaumsworld (rip).

Anyway it might not be that mysterious but I'm over here feelin like Nancy Drew.

Also aside from the one other Exhibitor I found on here (hi!) ... there's like nothing for/about exhibitors. I wanna hear stories. man.

Whats this all about. I want to hear it.

Anyway this is whats been making brain go brrrr its kind of fun and exciting, this fair thing. Even if people only go to the Fair for the rides and food and don't mention these at all T_T

Weaponized incompetence my ass just weaponize it back. Once my dad tries to pull the “but I don’t know how to clean the counters as well as you” on my mom and she said “ok honey I’ll show you” and she made him stand in the kitchen and watch her clean the counters. Then she pulled out a bottle of chocolate syrup and proceeded to spray the entire kitchen in chocolate, hand him the sponge and said “okay now it’s your turn”
