I tried out driving for Lyft in the San Diego area to make extra money.
I have had to wait almost an hour before someone requests a ride. Most rides you make $3 to $10 range, but the amount of time you wait in between the rides, driving to the destination to pick up the ride, then taking them to the location they want, I ended up making less than minimum wage.
My car door is now damaged from one of the riders. I'm not sure which one did it but Lyft could do nothing about it because I didn't know who it was and couldn't prove it (even though the scratch wasn't there the day before driving for Lyft...).
They boast you can make $25/hr, however that information is more for drivers who work in a busy city. Not in the suburbs.
Not only that, you can get some really creepy passengers, some people really smell bad, or just have a lack of respect for your property.
I do not recommend this app based on the fact they say you can make $25 an hour, when really its $10 to $15 an hour.
