So......let me talk about the past six months.
The back half of this year has been incredibly busy but so, SO rewarding, and I want to give love to some of the biggest projects I contributed on.
First, and foremost, Twitch Together for Good. This campaign was meant to show the power of the Twitch community and our third party charity partners, and how we could come together to make a difference. From 11/28-12/3. tens of thousands of streamers from 98 countries raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity, engaged their communities, and inspired others to do good. The Saturday of the campaign, 12/2, had more charity streams than any single day in the history of Twitch. The campaign exceeded every benchmark we set for it and showed how the arc on Twitch's service bends toward positivity and doing the right thing. It was an inspirational, emotional moment that also showcased my ability at leveraging internal products to create mass, public-facing campaigns (Twitch charity tool, badges, shelf.) I'm so grateful to all the third party charity partners, the streamers, and the Twitch staff who helped to make this happen. Special shoutout to Tierney Saint-Aubin, who is an incredible human being and also put her heart and soul into everything that we did.
Another campaign where I leveraged this product expertise was the Hype Challenge, Twitch's first ever "incentive challenge" for US-based streamers. I was responsible for ensuring that Creator Home was utilized correctly to inform creators of this program. Hype Challenge was, also, successful at generating streamer interest and we saw many streamers achieve the rewards laid out at the start of the campaign.
Next was The Game Awards - while this was an Anthony Lipscomb special, I was thrilled to see some of the behind the scenes extensions work our team prioritized earlier this year come to fruition with Barry Carlyon leading the way. The extension was used by over 80k voters and millions of viewers saw it in action. I can't wait to continue this trend of extension building in 2024.
Finally, today is the day for Twitch Recap. Both the creation of the Twitch Recap Game (twitchrecapgame.com) and the actual product elements of Recap are now live - and there still may be some surprises to come on social. Joining this team in June, I wanted to take something people thought they knew and ensure that Twitch's recap didn't feel derivative or a retread - it felt like something that could only happen on Twitch. I think we've succeeded at that. Super huge hats off to Molly Bugler for being the ultimate captain of this campaign - I learn new things from her every day.
Overall, the last six months have been exhausting but rewarding. They've reinforced what I love about marketing: looking at all of the tools at my disposal and figuring out how to connect them to make 1+1=10. They also reinforced my love of the gaming industry and the creator economy space. And next year, we're doing even more.
