Why managers need to team up with HR
- [Host] Managers and HR need to work together. But managers can't outsource people management to HR. In too many organizations, people leadership has been outsourced to HR. So in a world where you don't have good people leaders who haven't checked in on the team, haven't developed skills, haven't done things. HR is the last line of defense. So what we're seeing is a world where we need a balance between the manager doing the day-to-day leading of the people and the HR doing the coaching of the manager and helping provide guardrails for the manager. In too many organizations, the thought process is people managers aren't managing their people, so HR needs to step in, or HR has been the outsource leader, and if the mindset is that it just creates tension. - [Presenter] Managers have some of the largest impacts on an individual's wellbeing, it's on par based on the research I've seen with the impact of a partner or spouse.
