Earlier this year, Brynlee Walker wrote a letter to Stephen Curry and the Curry Brand team asking for help with fitting her special braces, which she wears for hypotonia in her feet, into her favorite Curry Brand shoes. The team got to work; we pledged to find a solution for her within our footwear options and Stephen made sure Brynlee got the surprise of a lifetime, meeting her and her family at the Curry Brand pop-up in Indianapolis at NBA All-Star.   Fast forward to May, Brynlee and the Walkers came down to Baltimore to visit the team that made her custom Curry Brand shoes. The Walkers got a full tour of Under Armour HQ and learned firsthand about the innovative technology that goes into making Under Armour and Curry Brand sneakers. The future of youth sports is bright 💫   #UnderArmour was proud to present The Aspen Institute’s Project Play Summit in our Baltimore hometown. Our leadership spent the day with UA athletes like Mexican National Flag Football Team QB and Captain Diana Flores, as well as local sports heroes and Baltimore leaders to discuss ways to create more opportunity for young people to play sports.    We know sports are powerful, but how powerful, exactly? At Under Armour, we aim to inspire the next generation with performance solutions you never knew you needed and can’t imagine living without—and that starts with our team! Last month, our Teammate Resource Group, Parents for Professional Growth, hosted our annual “Take Your Child to Work Day” to inspire the kids of #UnderArmour with the full UA experience. We taught the next gen about different materials we use in our gear, received some fantastic product reviews, put together give-back bags for our community, and of course, finished the day with some UA Olympics on our new stadium field. At Under Armour, #Sustainability and #Innovation go hand in hand. In celebration of #EarthDay, we sat down with teammates Courtney Oswald, Lead, Materials Developer, and Taylor Burgdorf, Lead, Environmental Product Sustainability, to learn more about how their teams work together to support our athletes and help us ‘Act Sustainably.’   “Our goal is to maximize the emotional and performance impacts while minimizing the environmental impact […] A great example is our work with Rival Fleece … we’re working to keep the awesome cozy warmth our consumers love but reduce fiber shedding so that it becomes an even better product for the brand.” Courtney explained. In December, Under Armour and James Heal partnered to release a break-through fiber shedding test method to help our entire industry better address the threat that microplastics pose to our environment. Taylor was essential in managing UA’s fiber shedding program. “I am most proud of the sheer amount work we tackled as a team. In the last year we filed the patent, finalized the method and kit, located a partner to assemble/distribute the kit, got the kits into the hands of 10 mills, won an award for our method, developed a reduced shed alternative to Rival Fleece, and kicked off making our method an internationally recognized standard.” Act Sustainably is one of the five core values at Under Armour; we are dedicated to creating innovative solutions that help protect our environment and make athletes better.
