As a fully remote company, we aim to make the most of our in-person time together. If you needed a sign to take a moment to recharge, let this be it. Feeling the effects of long-term stress? Consider this your cue to step back, pause, and take a much-needed mental health day. A little timeout can do wonders, as suggested by Mayo Clinic. Providing a breather for the mind and body can bring a refreshing change, enabling you to refocus and come back stronger. In the face of overwhelm, remember it's okay to hit pause and prioritize your mental wellbeing. Potential client asking questions 🤝 confirming potenital therapist compatibility. When a client contacts a potential therapist, either before or during the first session, they can ask the following questions to help them gain a better understanding of a provider's background and approach to LGBTQ+ care: - What is your background and training in providing LGBTQ+-affirming care? - What percent of your caseload identifies as LGBTQ+? - What do you find to be the biggest challenge in the LGBTQ+ community right now? (This question really gauges a provider's understanding of the LGBTQ+ community’s needs and systemic issues.) - What do you enjoy most about working with the queer community as a therapist? (This question demonstrates a provider's capacity to honor and celebrate queer joy.) If it’s important to a client, they can also ask if a provider identifies as LGBTQ+ themselves. While a provider can offer queer-affirming care without identifying as part of the queer community, it’s okay for clients to prefer working with a therapist who shares this important aspect of their identity. #mentalhealthmatters #pridemonth #therapy

Hey! I'm Callie Friedman, and I work as a Senior Enablement Associate at Rula. It's been a little over a year since I joined, and I couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to combine two of my biggest passions: education and advocating for accessible mental healthcare. Before joining Rula, I was a 5th-grade teacher. During this time, I witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of having open conversations and supportive practices in place related to mental health from a young age. Beyond that, being a teacher showed me that the age-old saying rings true: You can't pour from an empty cup. Having access to affordable mental healthcare was not just essential for my own well-being but also a lifeline for maintaining the energy and empathy needed to support my students effectively and show them that I was "walking the talk". The reality is that accessing quality care when you need it most can be incredibly challenging. I've held the hands of my friends during their darkest moments and also experienced the devastating loss of a loved one to suicide; his memory a daily reminder of just how important our work here at Rula is. Every day at Rula feels like a meaningful step towards making mental healthcare work for everyone.
