Getaround (NYSE: GETR) is a ride-sharing startup that serves production traffic from eight countries, averaging 6.6 million requests per day. Using Porter, Getaround’s SRE team of ~3 people doesn’t have to worry about Day 2 operations and can focus on the most impactful infrastructure work. “If you want to do Kubernetes on your own, you need a large team of dedicated engineers working on it, constantly monitoring and maintaining your cluster. Porter handles our Kubernetes operations so we can focus on more important parts of the infrastructure” – Laurent Humez, SRE at Getaround Read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/dwwYc_uz Need to deploy your workloads on battle-tested, enterprise-grade infrastructure? We're building an open-source go-to-market AI Agent. Join us.

You focusing on your moat might be what prevents you from selling. For example I end up giving my money to Porter BECAUSE they don't lock me into their ecosystem. Because they didn't focus on their moat, I am buying from them. Porter is a platform as a service like Heroku, but the big difference is I own my infra, they're just helping me manage it. I call that a transparent wrapper. An example of wrapper nontransparent would be Vercel. It's a wrapper on AWS, but you can't see your AWS instance. Why does all this matter? I believe when you start a company it's very useful to rely on other pieces in an ecosystem. For example Bluewind will rely on Appsmith to allow people to contribute to a no-code app, n8n for the no-code backend, Smartlead for the email automation. By doing so, we remove the barriers for people to use our product because we work with industry leaders. The downside is we're not building a moat. But honestly, fuck the moat. Customers don't care about your moat. Only investors do. Before optimizing for enterprise value, optimize for customer value. PS: We have a new company coming in the bluewind stack. We thought a lot about it, this was a big decision. This is HubSpot. It's a key player in the GTM space. Bluewind not having a CRM to push the leads to is a problem. By having Hubspot we can finally close the loop and provide a great experience, all be it opinionated. They have a very generous startup plan that allows companies to not pay too much until they make the big bucks. This means Bluewind will be a transparent wrapper of Smartlead for prospection and Hubspot for nurturing. PS2: nothing prevents you from building your own things and creating your moat once you're established. For example Porter just released Porter Cloud 😉

    Co-Founder @Lago (YC S21)

Being in the US, especially in NYC, is a fantastic opportunity to connect with investors, users, or potential customers. Often overlooked, it's also a prime time to connect with providers. Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Justin Rhee from Porter. This service is pivotal to our operations, allowing us to deploy Lago's applications into our cloud account effortlessly. With Porter, Maneki-Lago (and Jérémy Denquin 😅) looks strong and happy because she operates like a full devops team. If you're considering a platform as a service, Porter is by far the best we've used. If you want to connect, I am in NYC for the next few weeks!

📣 Announcing Porter Cloud - Build your MVP on Porter Cloud, and eject to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud later. We are excited to launch something new today that we've been thinking about for some time. We are releasing Porter Cloud, a fully-hosted cloud built for the earliest versions of your product. Unlike the standard version of Porter, Porter Cloud does not require you to bring your own AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud account. It works just like conventional Platform as a Service's (PaaS) that deploy your apps with a few clicks, but it lets you eject to your own AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud account as you scale with just a few simple steps. Why did we build this? Since launching Porter in 2021, we have helped countless companies migrate from a Platform as a Service (PaaS) to AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Most of these companies had gotten started on a PaaS in the early days to optimize for speed and ease of use, but ultimately had to go through a painful migration to one of the big three cloud providers later as they scaled and outgrew the original platform. Interestingly, what we found is that many startups that deploy on a hosted PaaS are fully aware that they’ll have to migrate to the big three clouds at some point in the future. Yet, they choose to deploy on a PaaS anyway because outgrowing a cloud platform seems like a champagne problem when you're focused on getting something off the ground. If your product finds any kind of success, however, this becomes a very real problem as you start running into technical constraints or reliability issues on the platform, and it is difficult to migrate your production environment while serving users at scale. We’ve built Porter Cloud so you can deploy your product as quickly as possible, with the peace of mind that you can eject to the tried and true hyperscalers at any point. Deploy on Porter Cloud instantly, and when you’re ready, simply follow a few steps to seamlessly migrate your workloads to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Get started today with a free trial!

Dashdive (YC W23) granularly breaks down AI and cloud costs by feature and customer. Attributing these costs at the endpoint invocation level using distributed tracing and continuous profiling for each of their customers means they need to ingest thousands of usage events, at high throughput, per second. Porter provides them with the scalable and performant infrastructure necessary from day one. “The tooling we need would normally only be available to our engineering team if we were at a larger company, but it all came out of the box with Porter, so we were ready to scale from the start without worrying about the undifferentiated heavy lifting on the infrastructure side.” - Adam Shugar, Co-Founder and CTO of Dashdive Read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/eMD2jESn Need to deploy your workloads on highly performant infrastructure? Stacksync (YC W24) powers real-time and bidirectional data synchronization between CRMs like Salesforce or HubSpot, and databases such as Postgres or Snowflake; any updates on users' CRM or database are immediately synced to the other app. Co-founder & CEO Ruben Burdin migrated from Google Cloud Run to Porter to spend less time and money managing infrastructure. Since Porter is cloud agnostic, Stacksync is also able to utilize credits across all cloud providers. Hosting on Cloud Run and looking for more performant and cost-effective infra? Wefunder (YC W13) lets founders raise funding from their community. Their customers, fans, and friends can invest as little as $100—all in one line on the cap table. As their cloud costs increased and they ran into limitations on Heroku, SWE Ben Garcia and the Wefunder team decided to migrate to more cost-efficient, flexible, and scalable infrastructure on AWS, while still maintaining the developer experience of a PaaS through Porter.
