On the 104th anniversary of the first Negro Leagues Opening Day, here’s a look at the current renovation progress at Rickwood Field in anticipation of both the MLB & MiLB games in tribute to the legacy of the Negro Leagues. A project of this nature requires leadership, a collaborative process with the best in the business (BrightView Landscapes) and great local partnerships (cc: City of Birmingham). Employees from MLB, the Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Seattle Mariners joined HACE for their Annual National Leadership Summit and Awards Celebration in Chicago, IL. The summit discussed ways to promote, invest and support talent who can grow into leadership roles, defining the mission of diversity and inclusion for major companies. We were able to meet Latino/a/e professionals and their allies from across the country sharing advice about professional development, ERG/BRG engagement, recruitment and talent acquisition. Yesterday, MLB celebrated Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day in a festive environment at our offices in New York City. MLB kids, ages 8-15, were treated to interactive sessions with different MLB groups learning about how our office operates from Instant Reply to Baseball Operations, Marketing, Gaming and more. The children also had a chance to test out some VR gaming, built birthday boxes to children in foster care (via Foster Love - Together We Rise) and heard from the Commissioner of Baseball Rob Manfred. Other highlights of the day included fun moments with our PLAY BALL Ambassador Coach Ballgame and a FaceTime with CAP member & former All-Star pitcher Dellin Betances! #TakeOurDaughtersandSonsToWork #Baseball #OneBaseball #MLBTogether

In just two months, MLB will host “MLB at Rickwood Field, A Tribute to the Negro Leagues” – the first official Major League Baseball game in Birmingham, Alabama, at the historic Rickwood Field featuring the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals. Leading up to the game, representatives from MLB, the San Francisco Giants, and the St. Louis Cardinals traveled throughout the state of Alabama, visiting three HBCU campuses (Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, Alabama State University, and Miles College) to meet with leadership and students. They shared insights from their own career journeys and highlighted the various paths to pursuing a career in baseball. Following June 20th, MLB and both Clubs are committed to continuing the dialogue with students. Through a series of virtual workshops, we will focus on topics such as elevating LinkedIn profiles, tailoring resumes, and exploring future opportunities, all through the lens of Sports.
