This landmark study (48,000 patients!) published 4 days ago in the Journal of General Internal Medicine showed that ACP has a huge and COMPOUNDING impact on unwanted healthcare utilization and spend. Some highlights: - For patients with at least one ACP encounter, overall expenditure totals were 19% lower  - Patients with multiple ACP encounters had 31% lower total expenditure at the end of life. - An ACP encounter was associated with 2.32 times higher odds of utilizing hospice. - ACP encounter patients had 34% lower odds of having an EOL inpatient admission and 31% lower inpatient expenditures compared with patients with no ACP encounter. At Koda Health, we know that ACP is the right thing to do - it allows patients to stay in control of their health care journey and maintain agency. Studies like this help demonstrate that, for healthcare payors and providers, it's also the responsible thing to do.
