It has been two years since I contributed my piece to Rolling Stone regarding my take on the wider landscape for non-alcoholic beverages as well as my own experience transitioning into a much more mindful drinking lifestyle overall. The past two years have been nothing short of transformative - not only in terms of my own personal experience notably scaling back from alcohol, but in terms of the wider beverage/CPG landscape. From an industry perspective a lot has changed… - Significantly more non-alcoholic, traditional beverages and low-alc offerings have hit the market at a rapid pace, making it great for consumers as I truly believe in the importance of optionality across the board, however, with said influx of brands in market comes notably more competition across the board - The spirits industry has seen a notable shift in overall consumption and spending habits – which has equated to some pretty significant headwinds described in the piece - The TYPES of beverages and new product formats out there for consumers is evolving at a rapid pace, from items such as pixelated mushrooms to DTC cannabis beverages with notable THC delivered directly to your door From a personal perspective a lot has also changed… - I’ve become that annoying “morning person” which is something I’ve longed to implement my entire life - I’ve quadrupled my business in two years to over 80 CEO partners now worldwide and began adding notable team members to help me grow the business - I’ve been able to cut back on drinking 85% I’d say thanks to the immense array of better for you waters, THC/CBD drinks and great non-alcoholic options out there So where does this leave us? New from me and Callum Borchers: Who-you-know networking is back. Behind the resurgence: frustration with the digital slog that bogs down U.S. hiring. In Q1 of this year, referrals made up 5% of the outside applicants to jobs on the Greenhouse Software platform — but 30% of the eventual hires. Many hiring managers and applicants agree that the ease with which job hunters can respond to help-wanted postings has broken the online-application process by creating high volumes of candidates that hiring managers can’t hope to parse through. Meanwhile, applicants say automatic screening tools are shutting them out of opportunities. “There’s an idealist in me that wants to look at all the résumés,” one hiring manager says. “The reality is you just can’t.” https://lnkd.in/eTz6mkJ7
