Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA)
Technology, Information and Internet
A global standards body responsible for publishing technical specifications for digital content provenance.
About us
The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) was founded in 2021 and is led by Adobe, BBC, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Publicis Groupe, Sony, and Truepic. C2PA members work together to create open and interoperable technical standards for establishing digital content provenance and authenticity. The specifications are informed by scenarios, workflows, and requirements gathered from industry experts and partner organizations. The C2PA’s current work focuses on technical specifications for declaring the source and history (or provenance) of digital content in a tamper-evident manner. Content Credentials are the C2PA’s technical standard for tamper-resistant metadata that can be attached across various content types, including images, audio, video, and documents. Content Credentials function like a nutrition label for digital content, allowing creators to attach provenance to their content, such as creation date, tools used, and details of edits made along the way. In addition, a variety of open-source libraries and toolkits exist to enable anyone to integrate content provenance across web, desktop, and mobile implementations. LinkedIn has taken a significant step toward enhancing digital trust and transparency by adopting C2PA Content Credentials. With Content Credentials, LinkedIn users can easily identify AI-generated images and videos in their feeds. Digital content with a "𝐂𝐫" icon will offer a transparent path back to its origins, revealing provenance information and any modifications made using AI. The C2PA has teamed up with other international standards organizations to address the need for content authenticity and watermarking of Gen AI content. International standards will be vital in helping governments mitigate risks associated with AI through effective policy measures and regulations. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in ensuring that the standards ecosystem remains interoperable from end to end. #C2PA #WorldStandardsCooperation #ContentProvenance #Watermarking #ResponsibleAI
[BREAKING NEWS] New standards collaboration on AI watermarking, multimedia authenticity, and deepfake detection 🔍 The rapid advancements in #AI and generative AI technology have given rise to deepfakes - sophisticated manipulations that challenge our ability to discern real from fake. As these technologies become more pervasive, ensuring safety, trust, and authenticity is paramount. Today, at the AI for Good Summit, we joined in discussions with Content Authenticity Initiative, Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), IETF, IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), International Telecommunication Union and JPEG - on how to make progress as an industry as a whole. We were very pleased to have the occasion to be part of announcing a multi-stakeholder collaboration on global standards for AI watermarking, multimedia authenticity and #deepfake detection technologies 🤝 #WorldStandardsCooperation Why it matters: 🔴 #GenerativeAI content and deepfakes can significantly impact society. We cannot afford to overlook their implications. 🔴 Misinformation propagated by AI poses risks. Transparency and accountability are crucial. 🔴 Content creators face challenges in asserting ownership due to generative AI’s influence. ✅ International Standards will play a crucial role in supporting government efforts to address these challenges through policy measures and regulations. Want to be part of this groundbreaking collaboration? Get involved now ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eF5nqMxE Let’s collectively shape the future of #responsibleAI! 🚀
