As we continue to observe National Police Week this May, we honor the dedication and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the following law enforcement agencies for their unwavering support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward. Hollywood Police Department City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department Coconut Creek Police Department Broward Sheriff's Office Plantation Police Department Miramar Police Department Wilton Manors Police Department Pembroke Pines Police Department These departments go above and beyond in mentoring our youth and strengthening our community. National Police Week was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962. This year, 282 officers' names will be added to the Memorial, including 118 officers who were killed in 2023 and 164 officers whose sacrifices were previously unrecorded. We remember and honor their bravery and the lasting impact they’ve had on our communities. Bigs Inspiring Scholastic Success (BISS), is a program that pairs dedicated Bigs with Littles who need extra support to thrive in the classroom. Our Bigs commit to a 2-year match, meeting once a week for an hour to help improve grades, boost attendance, and foster self-confidence in their Littles. Our senior BIGs are not just graduating from high school; they're leaving a lasting impact on their Littles' lives. Through their guidance and encouragement, they've helped pave the way for brighter futures and instilled a love for learning and growth.
