Not every TikTok beauty hack will stop us in our tracks, but, when we saw that Anne Hathaway posted a video to "LipTok," she had all of our attention. The Princess Diaries actress has always felt like a relatable big sister thanks in part to her coming-of-age roles and It Girl aura. So, of course, we were all ears for a Hathaway-approved beauty secret, and the quirky hack not only confirms her reliability, but also that she's also a low-key genius.

There's nothing more girl-coded than having an unconventional beauty hack you swear by, and Hathaway's is one of the most unique we've heard so far. The actor told TikTok that while on set for her Sheisideo campaign, she looked at the monitor and noticed her "upper lip looked a little wilted," which called for her fix the problem with... a hair pin?
Yep, Anne Hathaway skips the lip plumper and balm in favor of a hair pin. The 41-year-old continued to tap her lips gently with the hair pin in the video. "I went in and sort of stimulated my lip. I tried to get some blood flow back there," she said, tapping the pin across her upper lip. Understandably, Hathaway admitted that people on set looked at her like she had "three heads," but we think she might be on to something. Facial massages help stimulate blood flow and can give the appearance of a lifted effect. Tapping your lips with the pin is sort of like a mini massage if you think about it.

One caveat to the trick: It has to be a U-shaped hair pin, not a bobby pin, Hathaway adds. She also gave a safety disclaimer, mentioning that you can overdo the trick. "It's meant to be a gentle, gentle thing that you don't do for longer than 30 seconds," she says. "Don't stab yourself. If you've drawn blood you've gone too far! It's not a vampire LipTok." (Obsessed with Hathaway saying "LipTok" and also, her video editing skills are iconic.) "Its just kind of something to wake your upper lip up," she adds.
Although it feels crazy in theory, in the video, it does look like Hathaway's lips were more plumped and flushed after her hair pin lip massage. It's official: Anne Hathaway is in her beauty influencer era.
