See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

gravelyorchid asked:

Hi! Maybe third time’s the charm of asking this. I have two separate blogs since I like having the perks of the main blog, now would it be possible to have multiple accounts or even max of 3 logged in to the tumblr app? Instead of logging in and out? Thanks! x

Answer: Hey there @gravelyorchid!

A little good news and bad news here. We will start with the good, just because.

We have actually been looking into solving this kind of problem already as it happens. So yes—we fully agree this would be great to have. There are no guarantees on when a solution may be provided though, unfortunately, at this time.

We will let you know as soon as we do. Have a good day, and thanks for your question!

lefttragedysandwich asked:

Hi there! I am a long time user (over a DECADE on my original blog), but this is a brand new blog I just made, on the web, after seeing a post about the creation process for new blogs and wanting to test it myself. I like the suggestion that people follow some tags to start, to help put some good stuff on their For You page! However, you'll also notice that this blank blog with a generic name and default appearance looks an awful lot like a bot. And there is also an influx of spam bots right now as well - @changes always tells us to report those when there's a new wave of them, and we usually block them too. I think I've managed to discern the difference after looking at the suggested names vs some actual bots, but most people can't.

Suggesting random names for new users (which is fine on its own), sending them to an unskippable page where they have to follow *people* (not just tags) before they've had a chance to explore the site, and not ever pointing them in the direction of their personalization settings (which are buried in the new layout) is going to end up with a lot of new users getting blocked and reported as spam! Perhaps after the tag following page, you could redirect people to the Blog Settings page, where you can have informative pop-ups suggesting people add a profile picture and header that reflects their personality/interests, and point out the description section to "Tell people about yourself!" You could make the page skippable if you think it would discourage people who just want to jump right in, but it would be really useful. I see on the app that a section like that comes up when you go to your own blog, but I think it should be a step in the sign-up process, before you follow anyone. Skippable, but encouraged. (Also, the requirement to follow individual blogs REALLY needs to be skippable)

Encouraging new users to have a profile picture, header, and personalized bio would really help in preventing real users from getting blocked by all the cool blogs they're trying to follow who think that they're spam bots! Getting blocked for no reason won't encourage new tumblrs to stick around! Please, encourage some individuality from our new internet neighbors, so they can become our internet friends 💙

Answer: Hey, @lefttragedysandwich!

Thanks for getting in touch with this. We are very aware of this situation, and we are trying to find the best way to solve it—without just adding more steps to onboarding, which (unfortunately) most people won’t do.

This, in turn, just adds friction to signing up for Tumblr, which means fewer people sign up to join us. Which means fewer internet neighbors, let alone less individuality.

But this is an important question to answer, and we are grateful you raised it with us. As and when we have a good solution, we’ll announce it on @changes. Keep your eyes peeled, and hopefully, it won’t be too long.

Best,

—The Tumblr WIP Team.

innerfool asked:

how do I add key words to draw more browser traffic to my blog

Answer: Hey there, @innerfool.

Good news! So there are a couple ways to do this. Here’s how:

  1. If you’re using a custom blog theme, you can set the Open Graph title and description on your blog.
  2. If you don’t do that, the title and description will be your blog name and your blog description. So ensure that you keep those up to-date and useful, as these can help draw traffic.
  3. If you wanna go really far, way out yonder, you can use an entirely custom theme and set up your own “keywords” meta tag. From here, you can then try out other search engine optimization hacks. Pretty neat, huh?

Otherwise, be sure to check out this help doc for custom themes on Tumblr.

Hopefully this helps, and thanks so much for your question.

lovesfalling asked:

hey! any chance tumblr will ever get a real private blog feature? y'know, a little switch that hides us (our posts, and all reblogs of our posts on other people's blogs) away from anyone except our followers? would really help creatives who don't wanna go public yet, and i'm sure a lot of people would feel safer knowing it's a feature. not to compare tumblr to twitter dot hell, but they really nailed the private option perfectly.

Hey, @lovesfalling.

As it happens, arguably, our current private blog feature could be ideal for what you describe. It hides your blog entirely, making it private to you and any other blog members. So that’s one workaround: create a private blog and add your friends to it if you want a personal shared space. And if you want to know more about this and other privacy options, you can find out all about it at our nifty Help Center!

The idea of request-to-follow, as you mention, has been played with a lot internally. But we just haven’t prioritized making it a real feature. So it’s safe to say it’s on our minds but probably not coming anytime soon—keep an eye on @changes for the latest on this one.

Thanks for your question, and keep the feedback coming!

layzeal asked:

hey there! i was wondering if there are any plans to make it an option to have both the blogs on the app and the tag/search on web be on selectable pages instead of infinite scroll (like most tumblr themes on the web). sometimes i'd like to go very far down in a blog or a search, but the only option is to scroll down and depending how old it is, it's just not possible. thanks for your time!

Hello @layzeal! Thanks for submitting this question.

In fact, this feature was something we implemented on web a while back. You can disable endless scrolling on web by:

Clicking the snowman on the top right -> Settings -> Dashboard.

You should see the toggle on the dashboard settings page:

Disabling or enabling the endless scrolling will be reflected when you search for good, good content on the web, and also apply to your carefully curated dashboard!

However, the feature is only available on web (for now). This is definitely a cool idea to keep in mind as we’re iterating on the product.

roughentumble asked:

hello, i really love the option to export and download your blog, but my blog is very large, and all i'm looking for are the chatlogs from my IMs, since there's currently no way to scroll all the way back to the beginning of very old conversations. would you ever consider splitting up the export, so users can decide whether to download their entire blog, or just posts, or just IM history? since it would be a lot faster and easier to download that way. thank you

Hello @roughentumble, and thanks for your ask.

If you are having trouble exporting your blog, our Support team would love to help you out on that! You can contact them through our Support page.

As for splitting up the export, we think this is a great idea and will keep a note of it.
