🎉 Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture is excited to share the announcement from HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd of their new CEO, Mark Wild OBE. Our SCS JV team looks forward to continuing our collaboration with HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd under Mark's leadership as we deliver the London tunnels programme.

We are delighted to announce that Mark Wild OBE has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of HS2 Ltd 🎉 As one of the most respected figures in the infrastructure industry, Mark brings almost four decades-worth of experience to the role. This includes an outstanding record in the successful delivery of complex railway systems – the alignment of tracks, train, power, signalling and communications – most notably as the CEO of Crossrail. Mark will join HS2 Ltd at a pivotal moment in the programme’s delivery, with civil engineering works along the route from London to the West Midlands reaching their peak and focus shifting to building the infrastructure to operate the railway. Mark Wild OBE commented: "I look forward to leading HS2 as it progresses from major construction works to its rail systems phase and beyond to the first passenger services. 🌟 Friday Finalist news! 🌟 Naumaan Qamar, senior commercial manager, is a finalist in the ‘Best Mentor’ category of the Women In Construction & Engineering Awards (Europe). 📑 Here's a highlight from his nomination: “Naumaan is a truly inspirational manager, mentor, leader and colleague. “He has shown outstanding dedication and support in guiding and mentoring apprentices towards successful placements within quantity surveying roles and subsequently welcoming them into his team. "Naumaan's approachability, patience, and willingness to share his knowledge have made a significant impact on the apprentices’ professional journeys. His ability to provide constructive feedback and encouragement has created a supportive environment conducive to learning and growth. ” Naumaan said, “It's an absolute honour to be nominated by my team for the award. This recognition means a lot to me, not just personally, but because it reflects the changing landscape of our industry.” Winners are announced next month. Best of luck Naumaan!

👀 Ever wondered what happens after a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) completes its tunnel bore? Here's a remarkable moment captured of TBM Lydia being extracted by the Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture team after completing the Atlas Road Logistics Tunnel. 📽 👇 Lydia's journey continues as her special components will now make their way back to her manufacturer Herrenknecht AG to be recycled.

🔔 We're making huge environmental progress towards transforming our two soil placement areas into green havens. 🌳 🌳 Our Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture team have successfully planted the first 1,300 plants out of 70,000 individual trees, shrubs and bushes.

✨ ICYMI - Tunnel boring machine, TBM Anne, set off on her 3.4 mile (5.5km) tunnelling journey from our Victoria Road Crossover Box site earlier this week. ⌚ She's had an excellent week so far, thanks to our Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture tunnelling team, who work in shifts to keep all four of our Northolt Tunnel TBMs running 24/7, as part of our work for HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd. 📚 TBM Anne, manufactured by world-leading experts Herrenknecht AG, is named after educational reformer Lady Anne Byron, who in 1834 started England’s first co-operative school for working class children, in an era when education was mainly for the wealthy. 🖐🏼 Say hi to Anne https://lnkd.in/esngCwJ3
