Our latest project update video is out 🎥🤩     Join stations director, Huw Edwards as he highlights the progress we've made so far in 2024, including passing the halfway point in the completion of our tunnels 🎉.     In total, high-speed trains will travel through 27.4 miles of twin-bore tunnels – or almost a fifth of the 140-mile route. We are delighted to announce that Mark Wild OBE has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of HS2 Ltd 🎉 As one of the most respected figures in the infrastructure industry, Mark brings almost four decades-worth of experience to the role. This includes an outstanding record in the successful delivery of complex railway systems – the alignment of tracks, train, power, signalling and communications – most notably as the CEO of Crossrail. Mark will join HS2 Ltd at a pivotal moment in the programme’s delivery, with civil engineering works along the route from London to the West Midlands reaching their peak and focus shifting to building the infrastructure to operate the railway. Mark Wild OBE commented: "I look forward to leading HS2 as it progresses from major construction works to its rail systems phase and beyond to the first passenger services. New video 🎥 🤩 Construction of our pioneering Thame Valley Viaduct has now passed the halfway point, with 44 out of 72 customised pre-cast beams in position, 66 of the 70 piers installed and work well underway on the deck that will support the railway.     The viaduct near Aylesbury is one of the longest on the high-speed rail project and a UK-first in terms of the amount of the structure which is being manufactured off-site.     Instead of using a more traditional approach, with multiple narrower beams for each span, the design team opted for a simple structural solution with just two larger hollow 20 or 25m u-shaped beams per span. Learn more: https://gloo.to/FF3n Watch now 👉 https://lnkd.in/eK3vgSy6   #Aylesbury #Viaduct #HS2  Eiffage Kier Ferrovial BAM (EKFB)
