Hi-iii-iiiii! YES that’s me, and my amazing co-writer is @noxnthea 💜 thanks for all your kind words on that series, your comments are absolutely fantastic and I appreciate you so much!
The Marshmallows actually split off from the original plan for If It’s A Highway, which is my (much angstier and darker and smuttier) Bucky/Jason Lost Days AU. When I first had that idea, I was toying with the idea of a Winterhawk-plus-Jason endgame, after Jason and Bucky come back to the States and get him settled in Gotham… and I was talking about it while we were also gushing about one of our favorite Batfam fics, Ain’t No Compass by @ebjameston - we were having both conversations at the same time, because ADHD, and I think wires got crossed between the two trains of thought? The phrase “marshmallow crime lord” came up and stuck somehow.
Lol here I just went and scrolled back in our discord chat and found it:
We ran with it from there, a couple weeks later I asked Nox to officially co-write… and that was that!
Really though, best feeling to have somebody like this who you can just message your weird random thoughts to and they say YES HERE’S MORE NOW GO WRITE. Nox is ridiculously supportive and enthusiastic about ideas, but also has the editing smarts to think critically and make sure they get shaped into something good once they’re on paper, which is a rare and priceless combo in a writer friend!
Nox is on vacation this week but hopefully next week we’ll be starting on the next part of that, which involves Damian! I’m psyched to get back to it.

HEH. yeah I figured that would would pique some curiosity. that one is Jason Todd/Bucky Barnes/Clint Barton (as Red Hood/Winter Soldier/Ronin) reforming organized crime in Gotham, making the bad guys pee themselves while rescuing all the strays, dishing out relationship advice, walking at-risk youth to therapy, etc. Lots of crack-y outside POV vignettes where they’re overheard talking about something that sounds super sinister but then it turns out they’re actually talking about kittens. stuff like that.
here’s a silly bit:
Batman’s hard to read, as a rule, but there’s something distinctly affronted about the swish of his cape as he puts his hands on his hips.
Captain America jabs him in the chest with the index finger of righteous indignation, really hitting his stride now. “And furthermore, the long-term psychological effects of combat on a child’s psyche —”
“I’m sorry, didn’t you invent the teenage sidekick thing?” Batman says flatly.
Captain America sputters wordlessly for a second, turning brick red, before he squawks, “Those comics are not historically accurate!”
“Whoa, okay, let’s everybody take a deep breath,” says Ronin, but his alarm seems to be directed mostly at the Soldier, instead of the two who are actually arguing — the Soldier is shaking slightly on the spot, and then his vibranium arm snaps out and pulverizes the chimney he’s been leaning on with a single punch.
Red Hood, meanwhile, is wheezing so hard he can’t stand up any more.
