    A True Testament to Craft As a testament to innovative craftsmanship, the Versace Mercury harmoniously blends futuristic advancements with the timeless sophistication of the House’s heritage. The sci-fi-influenced design conceals a complex structure, consisting of 86 meticulously crafted components that are seamlessly cut and stitched together, of which the upper and lining alone consist of 30 pieces per pair, thereby creating a cocoon of comfort, protection, and support. Artisans skillfully hand-weave 16 meters of crochet rope into every pair, dedicating three hours to the weaving and application process. The design features distinctive zig zag roping, 15 precisely stitched components, and represents a labor of love and a testament to enduring artistry. Its upper boasts handmade woven lace, a focal point of dynamic design. The new EVA sole, adorned with the House’s Greca pattern and hand-painted interior, ensures both comfort and lightweight construction. The shoe’s design drives recognition with subtle and understated branding. Personalization details include metal Versace lettering on the metal-plated heel, subtle Versace lettering on the tongue and eyelets, and a ribbon featuring the Greca motif in tonal jacquard. Notably, for the first time, the style code, country of manufacture, and size scales are printed inside the tongue. A team of 27 craftspeople collaboratively assemble all elements with great care, creating a fully ‘Made-in-Italy’ shoe that speaks to the soul of Versace and captures the essence of the House’s storied legacy.     Donatella Versace was awarded the title of Grand Ufficiale dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana. Bestowed by the President of Italy, the award is one of the country’s highest honors and comes in recognition of her contribution to Italian fashion, culture and her humanitarian work.     The award was presented in Milan at the Ministry of the Interior by the Prefetto of Milan. Donatella will go on to meet The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, at The Quirinale Palace in Rome on Saturday June 1st as part of the Festa della Repubblica celebrations.   “I am hugely honoured to be receiving this award from The President of Italy. It is a recognition not just for me but for the company we founded over four decades ago, for my fantastic team and for the global Versace community who champion “Made in Italy” every single day. On the eve of Pride month, this award also recognizes the very urgent need to champion minority voices, freedom of expression and inclusivity both here in Italy and globally.     Versace believes in investing in young talents and being a platform to amplify the creativity of new and diverse voices. Through outreach with schools such as Istituto Marangoni, the Versace Talent Acquisition Team supports those at the very beginning of their career within the fashion industry. Through a recent engagement, students of the Fashion Design and Fashion Business faculties were introduced to Versace’s international environment and iconic heritage, as well as being shared advice on entering and succeeding within the luxury sector.

    To support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and this year’s global Pride celebrations, Versace is pleased to donate 10% of the purchase price of every Versace 2024 Pride collection item sold to the Elton John AIDS Foundation from May 22, 2024 to January 31, 2025. Donatella Versace and the Versace House have supported EJAF since its beginnings in 1992. Donatella is Co-Chair of The Rocket Fund, EJAF’s campaign to raise $125 million targeted at increasing support for LGBTQ+ programs in the fight against AIDS everywhere. The Versace family and company have long supported and championed the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, and the first months of 2024 have seen Donatella personally awarded the Game Changer Honor at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards (GCFA) 2024 in Los Angeles in recognition of her allyship to the global LGBTQ+ community, and her announcement as the first Global Ambassador of the Los Angeles LBGT Center. The capsule collection combines rainbow colors of the Progress Pride flag with Versace’s iconic Barocco print for a special and limited selection of ready-to-wear and accessories.     An immersive pop-up space in celebration of the Versace “La Vacanza” 2024 collection was officially unveiled in Chengdu’s Citang Street with an opening event. The large scale pop-up shares in the “La Vacanza” collection’s influences of sea, sun, and the bright days and glowing nights of summer, through spatial designs which reflect light and ripple like the ocean surface. The building’s exterior is transformed by iconic Versace signatures, while interior décor plays on transparencies through glass surfaces and reflective mirror walls, while raffia flooring continues the collection’s use of the material. An artistic installation created in collaboration with Sichuan-born artist, Hu Yinping, dominates the interior space. The piece features familiar and mysterious sea creatures each meticulously woven by a collective of over 70 local women. An accompanying soundscape interplays sounds from the local Chengdu area, creating a blend of the fantastical and the everyday.  Hu Yinping's artwork also features within Versace's Beijing Sanlitun, Shanghai IAPM, and Hong Kong K11 MUSEA boutiques until May 20th. #VersaceLaVacanza #Versace
