Chi siamo

The house of FENDI was established by Adele and Edoardo Fendi in Rome in 1925. The opening of the first FENDI boutique – a handbag shop and fur workshop followed. Soon winning international acclaim, FENDI emerged as a brand renowned for its elegance, craftsmanship, innovation and style. The collaboration with the late Karl Lagerfeld began back in 1965 and lasted 54 years, in 1992 Silvia Venturini Fendi seconded him in the Artistic Direction. In 1994 she is given responsibility of Leather Goods Accessories and then the direction of the Menswear line. In 2000 the LVMH Group acquires FENDI becoming in 2001 its majority shareholder. In September 2020 Kim Jones is appointed Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, while Delfina Delettrez Fendi, fourth generation of the Fendi family, joins the Maison as Artistic Director of Jewelry. Today FENDI is synonymous with quality, tradition, experimentation and creativity. www.fendi.com @fendi

For #FendiSummer 2024, the Maison relaunches the archival-inspired Roll bag alongside Made For A Woman in Madagascar. Each bag is crocheted in locally sourced raphia in two colours to create the Maison’s signature FF motif, then finished in Italy, where artisans sew on leather handles decorated with handmade Selleria stitches.

The Maison is proud to present its latest Hand in Hand #FendiBaguette created with Made For A Woman in Madagascar. Conceived across Italy in 2020 and expanded worldwide to the USA, Japan, China, and Scotland, #FendiHandinHand is a grassroots partnership between Fendi and local artisans that celebrates the #FendiBaguette by Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear Silvia Venturini Fendi as an icon of the Maison and an instantly recognisable canvas for perpetual transformation. The Baguette crafted by Made For A Woman reinterprets traditional Malagasy designs into an intricate pattern of different stitches. Working with locally sourced raphia, the artisans created the bag from four different crochet squares tied together, outlined by three-toned raphia with fringed edges. A macramé braid runs over the Baguette, its flap and shoulder strap, embellished with exquisite carnelian beads.

For a special event, the Fendi family home in the Roman countryside was imbued with the dolce vita allure of the Pequin motif reimagined for #FendiSummer 2024 by Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi. The pattern originated in 1983, when Carla Fendi asked the late Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear Karl Lagerfeld to create a subtle logo pattern in the Maison’s signature colourway. Without his celebrated FF, but just as recognisable. He responded with the Pequin – perfectly proportional stripes traced with subtle Fendi lettering – an instant classic and a signature of the Maison ever since.

The #FendiHandInHand project once more goes beyond Italy to pursue the finest craftsmanship from around the world, this time visiting the Scottish Highlands to celebrate the country's rich textile heritage. There, Clare Campbell's Prickly Thistle – Cloth of Identity elevates the concept of tartans by weaving words, numbers, and symbols into their fabrics. For her interpretation of the #FendiBaguette, Clare worked with Fendi's traditional colourway and signature yellow, as well as the numbers five, for the five Fendi sisters, 1925, the year Fendi was founded, 1997, marking the creation of the Baguette, and 2008, the debut of the Peekaboo. The resulting tartan is now registered within the Scottish Register of Tartans.
