Describe the issue:

  • Bug
  • Change request
  • New feature request
  • Discussion request

Issue long description:

It would be great to be able to track all the equipment used on a dive. Some usage examples include tracking the number of dives done on a regulator set, to know when it needs servicing. Another example is tracking which fins were used, since they often affect buoyancy.

Expected behavior:

  • Add an option to track the following gear on a dive:
    • Regulator (allow more than one, for stage and deco bottles)
    • BC
    • Fins
  • Add an option to pull all the dives using a certain piece of gear
  • Nice to have:
    • Create a gear management screen, similar to the dive site management screen
    • Add a "next service" date for each piece of gear, with an optional alert on the mobile app

Something like this has been discussed repeatedly, in the end we always decided against it.

The devil is in the details. Everyone is looking for slightly different things and the complexity and development effort would likely be significant.

Most importantly... You can do what you are really looking for today already.
Create a tag for each piece of equipment you want to track, and add that tag to every dive on which you use that equipment.

Not very elegant, but it works today
