We have quite a lot of those on release according to https://www.mathies.com/mozilla/crashes/utilrelease.html, with 136 reports in crash pings, but very few on crash-stats.

This is showing up as an extremely high volume utility process crash on Beta at the moment per jimm's dashboard: https://www.mathies.com/mozilla/crashes/utilbeta.html

Unfortunately, we have had spikes in the past already, and I dont know why.

(In reply to Alexandre LISSY :gerard-majax from comment #4)
Unfortunately, we have had spikes in the past already, and I dont know why.
And the debug we added in bug 1827380 does not seem to generate anything yet: https://sql.telemetry.mozilla.org/queries/91811/source

The bug is marked as tracked for firefox113 (beta) and tracked for firefox114 (nightly). We have limited time to fix this, the soft freeze is in 8 days. However, the bug still has low priority and has low severity.
:gcp, could you please increase the priority and increase the severity for this tracked bug? If you disagree with the tracking decision, please talk with the release managers.

We can uplift the diagnostics to Beta for tomorrow's b9 build if you think that would help.

Since it seems there is a crash spike and this bug was suspected,
Trying to widen the search on https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/search/?signature=~mozilla%3A%3Aipc%3A%3AUtilityAudioDecoderParent%3A%3AGenericPreloadForSandbox&product=Firefox&process_type=utility&date=%3E%3D2023-03-27T16%3A04%3A00.000Z&date=%3C2023-04-26T16%3A04%3A00.000Z&_facets=signature&_sort=-date&_columns=date&_columns=signature&_columns=product&_columns=version&_columns=build_id&_columns=platform#facet-signature you only get:
- nothing really clear: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/e9036bc2-530f-4b78-b5aa-0558c0230422
- others seems to be from one machine and complains about
ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT
e.g., https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/49b86abe-67e4-40a1-8ba0-b03610230327 - or we have a few OOM (real, given the data)
However bug 1808869 had a different signature https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/signature/?product=Firefox&process_type=utility&signature=mozilla%3A%3AMozPromise%3CT%3E%3A%3AChainTo&date=%3E%3D2023-03-27T15%3A57%3A00.000Z&date=%3C2023-04-26T15%3A57%3A00.000Z&_columns=date&_columns=product&_columns=version&_columns=build_id&_columns=platform&_columns=reason&_columns=address&_columns=install_time&_columns=startup_crash&_sort=-date&page=1 and more reports, altough on crash-stats it is only on nightly. The starting date of april 11th, though, is closer to the spike which is said to be around april 13

Things seem to be recovering now, so no need to track this at this point.

Since the crash volume is low (less than 15 per week), the severity is downgraded to S3
. Feel free to change it back if you think the bug is still critical.
